They will kill themselves with this pricing. If you ask me it is obvious that only the genuine persons who are bent upon to go in for Land Cruiser will be buying this vehicle. Otherwise there is no point shelling out so much money when you have other choices available in market.

Toyota made their first loss this year, no body is buying enough land cruisers around the world, so may be they want to make up for this loss by selling in India.

Regardless, the people who will buy LC, will probabaly wont browse as much, or, get to read this thread.

Looks like it! They should have priced it somewhere in the range of 50-65 Lakhs range to make it a success

Total pricing disaster by Toyota

considering that you can buy a Diesel Cayenne for around 70 Lakhs, there is no way to toyota to convince people to buy land cruiser unless someone thinks that LC is only SUV left in the world.

Lets wait for Tata to start selling Range Rovers here too.

I think they are banking/targeting on rich people looking for the 'exclusive' vehicle.

My feelings are a paraphrase of the famous line from "Gone with the Wind" - frankly, I don't give a d**n!

They dont want to sell landcruisers here. Best bet, buy one overseas get it shipped and pay the taxes as per your conscience, and yes you have saved some money.

That makes the lower spec TATA-LAND ROVER very much affordable at around 40L

i think toyota doesn't want a market share in India,as they put mud on their head themselves in the way of overpricing their products in India.

Going by the trend, wonder how much they will price the Fortuner (4Runner) for. Many people are looking forward to its launch. Anything above 20L will kill the product.

Considering the LC200 is a CBU, and even the petrol version costs around US$70,000 C&F from Japan, I don't think Toyota's pricing is high. And it comes fully equipped, with very few options to jack up its base price by another 50% unlike the Q7 which is the only comparable vehicle . Further, the Diesel version you'll have to get from Australia, South Africa or the UK, as it is not sold in Japan. And, it's not a showcase vehicle- you can use it everyday and clock high mileages like the S Class, unlike some other SUV's in its price bracket. And maintenance & service should be a breeze.

Hope Mercedes will bring in the GL soon!

Fortuner should be 20L plus for sure. I won't be surprised if they tag it at 25L. How many they'll sell is another question.

It is going to be beyond 20L (On road). Don't ask me the source

Ouch. They probably want to make the Cayenne, X5, Q7, ML look like poor man's SUVs ! And it's not even a Lexus.

This will be bought by people who already have the above mentioned SUVs.

And yes, with the Rangies in the fray even the off-roading capabilities of the LC may not help sell at this price.
