new T branded sedan-4 engine options

the information is preliminary and subject to change, since the matter i am posting is with a closely guarded talk with the top person handling this car through a jugaad.
i will not disclose the name of the company and the car due to security concerns but subtle hints will make you guys know easily what product i am talking about.

I REQUEST FELLOW BHP-IANS NOT TO MENTION THE NAME OF THE CAR DISCUSSED IN THIS THREAD IN ANY OF THE REPLIES.

yes, indirectly we can talk about it.

so lets begin uncloaking the mystry:
expected launch: mid-2009
trim levels: 8 (4 petrol, 4 diesel)
base 2 petrol models will have a 1.4 16v twin cam "indegenious" engine which currently powers the budget limousine (XL)
base 2 diesel models will come with dicor engine

upper end 2 petrol and 2 diesel models will come with same engines as powered in an italian company's premium midsize sedan which is sold through the T-branded dealerships.

ONCE AGAIN-do not write the name of the car.
all information may be subject to change at the time of launch.

expected pricing:5.25-7.25 lakh

that's all for now.
to be continued in a few minutes.

Eureka...I get it I get it! Wow this is news. Never thought the so called T- branded car maker would come up with a new sedan so soon ans that too this year. Does this mean competition or setback for the Italian partner, sharing same engines? Guess time will answer.

Based on this company's new hatchback platform I suppose? How much content does it share with the hatchback? I mean with reference to the interiors, trims, styling etc.

Of course, had to come. The T company's XL version's 16v engine had 100bhp from long (connections to the italian?), and the diesel is anyways long expected - since the italians love shooting their cars in the head!

Laavlis. btw, have to hand this to you.

Most of us just leech/timepass off teambhp. You actually drive traffic up (imo) with the quality of your reviews - fit material for a good quality autoblog unlike so much of the junk that floats around in the Indian scene. I look forward to your regular scoops - thanks for sharing with us

It is reported to share a good amount of things from its hatch cousin.
However it will have a longer wheelbase and a boot attached to the rear like the Dzire.

Again a disappointment on engine front. I thought they will have newer generation multijets available as compared to their own.

But what really makes confused is that where will Linea go then. I am sure the 1.4 diesels will make the new sedan to match performance of Linea. Moreover, Linea does not have the best rear seat, and I am sure this new sedan will have a lot of space.

Bring it on to take on Overrated ( IMHO ) Linea. The first serious diesel competition to Linea will be from its friend MOU manufacturer.

The above part is a bit confusing. Does this mean the base petrols will be more powerful than the upper end? IMHO seems unlikely. Would love to see the 1.4 16v twincam in the hatch though

the varients:(once again-only indicative information, subject to change).so don't blame me if the information given MAY not match partially when the final product is launched).

petrol-"v stands for versions"

v1-1.4 16v dohc "indegenious"-85 bhp, scaled down version of xl's petrol engine.
v2- same engine as v1
v3-same engine as that of its italian sedan with 90bhp
v4-same engine as v3.

diesel-

v1 and v2-dicor engine from xl with 75 bhp
v3 and v4-qjd engine with VGT and 86 ps

names of the versions not yet finalised.

Sid - great scoop.

Doubt the pricing though. At the 7.25 ex, the T-branded will be only 90K cheaper than than the F-brand Diesel. At that price difference, dunno how many will go for the T-brand assuming the fit and finish wont match F.

normal t-sedan and XL may be phased out.
