diesel-

v1 and v2-dicor engine from xl with 75 bhp
If the XL's petrol engine had 100 bhp and the 1.4 DICOR was allegedly capable of outputs upto 90bhp, are we seeing a lower state of tune so that "T" engines are not seen to be > "F" engines to justify the premium on "F"?

There must be a very confused set of people at "T" wondering what to do with an allegedly premium brand that is not offering a premium engine. I dont think this 'partnership' is going anywhere if that is indeed the case.

Thats the same as that is produced by the current T-branded petrol sedan.

The twin cam 16 valve 1396cc Petrol motor that powers the T-branded Econolimo makes around 100bhp.

Out of curiouslity I have driven a vehicle powered by this motor. It might produce 100bhp at a certain Rpm, but powerdelivery across the rpm range isn't something to write home about. Hopefully lot of work and improvements have gone into it. However, curiousity again, wants to see the performance of this engine in the T-branded original hatch (having the lightest bodyshell).

ah yes, so T is not killing the dicor ! there had been talk when another car was launched without the dicor, sparking talk that the dicor was a failed engine. guess its not.

PS: could you please post how much torque the dicor engine puts out ?

Not likely - the Dicor hatch from "T" packed quite a punch. The Taxi operator friend of mine bought one for 'premium' duties (i.e., white board discreetly let out for people who dont want to be seen travelling in yellow boards but dont want to pay sedan rates), but decided to keep it for his personal use after buying it. It is actually quite fun to drive even in the 68 bhp mode.

awesome scoop!
It will be interesting to see if this has any impact on admiration of F brand cars. IMO this shouldn't really be a problem as F Brand seems to have got off to a good start.

BTW, if this launch is in mid 2009, when will the new F Brand hatch come, Is it before
or after this. Or do we again hear someone saying "we don't want to confuse customers with too many launches"

Sid, u rock . You are the scoop master.

hmm why would brand F see a competition so soon and within themselves? Won't they want the honeymoon period for some more time. Strange weird world. They are confusing me

Great Scoop!

T seem to be on a roll after their alliances with the F brand!
The Diesel from the F brand with VGT on a lighter car will be great fun I expect!

Nay - don't think so. For whatever is worth the T-brand was never guilty of poor execution and delays. That is the sole property of F brand

The Italian car which just hit the showroom is still in it's honeymoon period, when that's over many people who walks into the T-showroom will think twice before going for the italian one or the home grown one and will settle with the later just like the little q-jet and multijet hatches, this JV is doing more damage than good for the Italians. Sad.

Wow great scoop as always sidindica. Wondering if you were receiving the info over the phone or something and jotting down while listening

The only concern that pops to my mind is the problems this Brand is facing across product range from cars to large vehicles. With cash inflow down to a trickle it will be interesting to see how they manage the burden of expensive purchases, plant shifts, New Launch expenses as well as better product support.

Have seen an increase of their Car & SUV adds on TV lately.
