HM Ambassador (1989) - NO.. The most comfortable car we've owned till date, but we had to literally push the car to car for it to start everyday. The battery would die every now and then, and spending time at a near by body shop was Ambassador's best past time.
Maruti 800 (1994) - Yes.. Now this was THE CAR back in those days.
FIAT UNO (1997) - YES & NO. It served us for 2 Lakh KMS, but their after sales service was the worst that i've experienced in my life. However we had to chose between an Indica & an UNO and we just didn't trust TATA cars back then.
Toyota Qualis (2000) - YES. Legendary service and was really a very nice MUV.
Skoda Octavia (2004) - YES. IMO Octavia was and is probably Skoda's only reliable & care free vehicle.
Hyundai Verna (2007) - YES. Hyundai takes care of their customers and their service is top notch.
FIAT PUNTO (2009) - Too early to know if i would buy it again. However we've clocked 23000 KMS since we took delivery back in Oct 2009.

I would definitely buy Yamaha RX100, MIL Suvega, KGP Laxmi 50, Premier Padmini 137D & my most favorite Maruti Suzuki Zen (MH410 or Carbon or Steel).

Both the cars I've bought: 2000 Hyundai Accent GLS (sold after 7 years, 80K km) and 2006 Swift Vxi (bought used at 30K km last year) have been absolute gems (touch wood). I have absolutely no regrets and would buy them again!

'02 P150 ES:NO.Back in 2003 I bought a used(11 month old) one for my college use.I would'nt go for it again. It was a very crude machine with something or the other always going wrong.Lot of niggling issues.I sold it off after bearing it with it for 4 years.

'98 Daewoo Cielo:Bought in 2006 for 80k.Still have it.If you're on a tight budget and want that big car feel and know a good mechanic, well its not that bad a buy considering the equipment levels and comfort it offers. But make sure it has LPG.

'06 Octavia vRS:Bloody yes. Its that good.Bought earlier this year. Its an investment!!!!Brilliant piece of machinery. Its the mini-BMW.Considering the exclusivity, rarity and the increasing prices in the used car market, I thank God for being one of the lucky 1045(YES, ONLY 1045 WERE BUILT IN THE 4 YEAR LIFESPAN:AUTOCAR 09/2010) in India to own it.

2004 - Hyundai Accent - Yes - it was a great car back then.

2005 - Hyundai Accent Viva Crdi - No - After only 90K the engine started showing its age and the resale was terrible. so eventually didnt save any money due to diesel economy. Honda City would have been a better bet.

2010 - Maruti Sx4 - No - i allways wanted the Altis but my family thought different. poor service in gurgaon and rattles withing 6 months have made my mind clear that i should have stuck to my guns and got the altis instead.

2001 OHC VTEC - Let alone "back in time", i'd buy it even today. Awesome performance, with awesome fuel economy.

2005 Innova P - Yes.

2007 Wagon R - We sold our old Wagon R to buy this, so it has to be a "yes" again.

Interesting thread. If I could go back in time, I'd stop the person I bought my Santro from messing with the odo to show the vehicle's been run 60k kms, whereas in reality it'd done close to 1.2L kms. Got to know of the reality this weekend when I took the car to a HASS, and they were surprised that the last time the car was serviced, the records show 1.2L on the odo... and now they show 80k! In hindsight, I should have taken the car to a HASS when I was buying it, and got a report there... but you live, you learn... Still, it'd have been Santro all the way. Awesome city car, love the gearbox, and the dead pedal is a real boon in stop go traffic.

1996- FIAT Premier Padmini- Yes. It was spacious and reasonably easy to drive with low cost of spares.

2000- Maruti 800- Again a Yes. Good Reliable car and absolutely hasslefree.

2003- Maruti Zen(New Shape)- Probably no. Could have gone for the Fiat Palio during this time.

2007- Fiat Uno- Yes. Great VFM in the used car market. Good to drive(albeit without the PS, the parking was a pain in Mumbai), loved the car.

2010- Ford Ikon
Definite Yes- Wonderful car to drive and own. The cost of spares and labour cost are a worry though but the delight in driving negates everything.

if i could go back in time without losing my memory and retain the same financial status, then I would probably try another substitute vehicle for the one I have.
for example I bought the Scorpio because I loved it.
But if I do go back in time then I would probably buy the Safari to see how it feels as an owner. Nothing like experiencing things at first hand and normally in life one never gets a second chance.
Hence in circumstances where one is being offered a second chance, then it would be nice to experience different things and doing things differently as well, to see which would have worked better!

Well a no.
If I could go back in 2002, I would tell myself, buy the alto instead of indica. Sure its petrol, but its cheaper, and will trouble you less.
If I could go back to 2008 when I bought the Safari... Well I can't decide whether I will tell myself not to buy the safari.
