Fuel prices are reaching sky high day by day

In this situation why no manufacturer is launching Hybrid cars?

TOYOTA Pirus has already proved itself in American market
Honda Accord 2005 Hybrid is also damn good Accord 2005 Hybrid road test

just wondering?

Hybrid cars are expensive to build up front. The premium for hybrid is higher than that of a diesel and the FE advantage is only
in the city mode. Europe has rejected hybrids because they like diesels, but in the US hybrids have become popular among tree-huggers.
Toyota Prius is about the size of a Corolla and costs the same price as a Camry (and it is said that Toyota is not making any money on it)

Cost of manufacturing them here is definitely one of the reasons for them not coming here,
but they should look at getting it here in CKD or something.
The Prius/Accord hybrids are great and I feel they should be introduced here as well.

As mentioned, the initial cost of purchase is still unreasonable even in the US. Mpower has got it spot on. Europeans would much rather opt for a diesel. But once the manufacturers bring down the cost and the spares become available then i see no reason why hybrids should not succeeed in India. I'd rather see hybrid cars on the road than those LPG time bombs.
