No airbags OR ABS in even the VGT SX or VGT SX A/T. ABS is OPTIONAL, to be fitted at the factory on order and delivered after 10-12 days. Hyundai is REALLY taking its customers for granted.

I think that's a great car. I have heard that it is the first diesel automatic car in the segment.

SS-Traveller:

I just checked the Hyundai India website and ABS appears to be standard on the 1.6 VTVT, 1.5 CRDI VGT SX and 1.5 CRDI VGT SX Auto. All the top models now come standard with alloys, front seat armrest etc. Small but nice upgrade. But the airbags are a glaring omission for a car in this price bracket. Wonder when Hyundai is gonna wake up and realise it.

Warm regards,
Venkat

  1. No lockup? Could you please state the source of your info? I will be shocked that if anybody offers an autobox in the year 2009 without a T/C lockup clutch.
  2. 4 speed auto is not a big deal at all. In fact the 14 lakh Corolla is only a 4-speed auto as are many other cars in that segment in USDM. Honda is an exception and they have gone 5+ speeds across the board.

That's not exactly what Hyundai does on the ground. The SX & SX Auto versions have both a non-ABS and ABS type. They sell the non-ABS version as standard, then if you ask for ABS, you pay 26k extra and wait till they make and send it to you from their Chennai factory on order. Usually only the non-ABS SX is available for ready delivery. That's like having the Swift ZXi with AND without ABS! Top-end versions are supposed to always have the full decoration, incuding the cherry and icing. Shouldn't have options there.

MY TAKE ON THE AIRBAGS ISSUE:

The so called small cars (i10 and i20) are exclusively manufactured in India (correct me if I am wrong). So Hyundai needs to setup that manufacturing ability, at least for export models. Hence even Indian models benefit in the process. However, I doubt Verna is exported to other countries from India. Hence a setup for such features (vendors or imports, assembly line) would be useless in terms of cost unless Hyundai can sell such models substantially. And we know demand (relative to base models) for such models in India.

verna looks very cheap and small car, not worth 10lakhs in my opinion. Hell i won't even pay 8 lakhs for it. It has no image, no grade, huydai people are gone crazzy pricing such small car 10lakhs.

You define cheapness from the exterior ? It isnt a head turner like the Civic or ANHC, but the interiors are classy enough. Atleast better than the SX4s and Fiestas of the world.

If you really need some snob value, buy the Octavia/Laura The points by ImmortalZ are valid.

What's the On-road price of Sonata Diesel Auto? I thinks its around 14L on road. According to me Sonata is more VFM tan Verna.

Took a TD

Guyz I just took a drive of the Verna AT...
The car rocks... the same engine, not much changes though but the idea to put an AT in disel is great...

There are not much changes in other departments also, but the fun about the car is the drive... seems like a promising package...

Guys, any one have pictures of the stock alloys?

What would they fetch, at the time of exchanging the tires and better looking alloys (aftermarket tire shop, that is)?
