Hey guy's.What's with these auto companies. First the indica xeta now a special edition 'music edition ' is launced by GM. Here is the link to the story covered by Vicky.in :

Just saw an update on 24 News channel:

Features are:
Price :3.27 l

Features:
2 din music sys
keyless entry
4 speakers
4 colors
Now body graphics
sporty upholstry
turn indicators integrated ovrm
Slight changes to steering wheel and dash.

FH dont forget the indica xeta sports edition. it has sporty aluminum pedals and smart new decals.
i can see where this auto industry is heading!!

To be fair to the car company, I think it is doing a right job in souping up an old product and not increasing a lot by the way of prices.According to the website(which is already updated,unlike the T company),the price increase is just 4000/- which Imo is not bad considering the number of add on's. I think that's better than giving plain discounts and much better than calling it a sportz version with filthy decals all over.

2500 Units ? That is indeed a special edition. Guess as special as the Aston Martin One-77

But seriously, I'd rather prefer cash discounts than "souping" up cars giving atrocious names. But then the general public might think otherwise.

I would not buy it simply because of the music sticker on the boot, what kind of special edition is called music?
atleast sports makes some sense, even though it may not be sporty.

Are you sure about the CD changer part? The HU is the normal double din Sony HU which playes both CDs & Cassettes

That was on the Business Standard Website as part of a press release by the company.

i really need to talk to the GM marketing guys and the senior management regarding the brand placement, positioning and strategy they have adopted with the swift.

1. who is the target audience?
2. what is the medium to reach?
3. discounts vs silly crap addons like graphics

IMHO the sparky is actually a nice lil car with decent build quality (after driving maruti 800s, altos, omnis and swifts), decent t drive, good FE. In fact I asked my dad to opt out of the Zen Estillo and year ago and opt for the Sparky - and he is one happy customer.

IMHO the spark has to be positoned alogn with the Alto (porbably lower prices maybe) - and stricly addons like a silly music system I dont think will cut the cake with the customer when opting for a 3 lakh car.

Again I think by launching a limited edition the GM guys maybe then again testing the market wrt to the brand recall in the customers minds.

In the end they will be leaving one heck of a "confused " customer

I guess FIAT is the only brand which offer genuine sport version of their palio's in the 3-5 lakhs category. What do you think guys? Yet few buyers for it.
