IMHO perhaps the bigger picture is, if Renault pulls out the Utltra low Cost Car project will surely wipe out as, Nissan won't be taking this along just by themselves.

They are pulling out of the plant construction etc. They are not pulling out of India. Probably the plant will be postponed because of the worsening economy or worse still postponed indefinitely. This certainly does not mean they are driving out of India. Renault already has its R&D offices in India. Carlos Ghosn is a smart CEO and I doubt he can do something like that.

No car company or any other will drive out of India or China in these times, no matter what the situation is. We will be the third largest economy in 2050, why will anyone drive out. Even if they do, they need a really solid reason to justify going away from India/China which will be a foolish decision when Asia is booming.

i doubt they'd pull out of india after so much hullabaloo over the 'logan' as the third world automobile that they call it.
so much cost cutting is visible on the car. why not transfer the privilege on to the consumer for a change? besides, the logan is not a looker, nor is it a powerful machine. its just an average vehicle with a lot of space, and costing a lot of money for what you get, but then the Ambassador has been doing the same thing since 40 years, better and for a cheaper price. I'm not making a direct comparison, but just saying that they must make the logan more exciting, or else they might have to actually leave india. anyways they have a not-so-good reputation.

Please don't make this another logan bashing thread. let this be purely on the speculation around renault's presence in india.
