Re: Vitamin M - What percent of your annual income do you spend on your car?

I spend only on fuel (almost all of which is reimbursed by my company as commuting allowance), general service costs and bi-annual fitness tests. Both my cars (mine and my wife's) were bought used, paying cash - so no loans / EMIs. Considering the high road tax and insurance here in Japan, all-in-all, I spend around 6% of my post-tax annual income on my cars.

Ideally, I would want to keep it below 5%. Time to negotiate hard with the boss during annual appraisal!

This remains a very relevant thread.

Currently I pay only maintenance/annual service costs, No EMIs.
Fuel cost is borne by my company.

There is a big difference between loving driving and loving fancy shiny new cars only.
Some here seem to have confused the two!
