What is a Tax Card ?

Well, I know I sound naive, but I don't know what a Tax Card is! I'm
supposed to present one (along with RC book etc.) when I apply to RTO
for NOC. I don't seem to find any such thing amongst my car papers,
although the RC book does have the LTT information. What other
information is carried by a tax card? If I don't find it, what do I do? Try
to find my payment invoice and submit that instead? Thanks.

Moderators: please move this to the appropriate section if it is not
there already. Thanks.

It is your tax token, which is the document (in some places it is still issued in the circular 'token' format, in others it is now a small piece of computer generated paper with the RTO's seal on it.

Thanks, Steeroid. However, I don't seem to remember ever seeing any
such thing amongst my car documents (purchased in BLR)! What about
other Bangaloreans, do you have this "tax card" ?

As I said, the RC book itself contains information on LTT paid (including the
challan no.). What additional information the tax card is supposed to have?
If I don't find this thing, can't I apply for NOC? Thanks.

I believe the new cars ( atleast in Bombay ) have the Tax receipts. If I am not wrong, I did receive a bunch of receipts including Tax and registration receipts along with the Smart Card.
You should talk to the RTO agents. Generally the same thing is called by ten different names. It might be the LTT entry in your RC book that they might be referring to.

This tax token was there in Kerala. Not sure about the current scenario.

In MP they have been issuing a smart card for quite some years for the road tax / registration.

Along with the RC, you would have got a receipt for the LTT paid. That is your tax token/ tax card or whatever it is called. The receipt for the LTT paid.

In my Accents case tax token just a rubber seal (with signature of the concerned person) on the registration document itself showing the amount of tax paid etc. No separate 'token' was provided. (KL-07 registration)

Hi,

I did get the LTT receipt along with the car papers, but I am unable to find it now. I have probably lost it but I do have a xerox copy of the same with me(luckily i did make a copy of it ). Do I need this receipt if I want to sell my car in the future and will the photocopy do? Also, is there any way I can get the original re-issued by the RTO? Or does the dealer have a copy of it?

Thanks in advance for the answers

Tax Card is something for Commercial Vehicles which pay their road tax on quarterly/annual basis. Previously this system was available for personal vehicles as well but since long, LTT has been made mandatory with all details provided in the RC itself. Please use that in the RTO
