Notice the hatch door hinge jutting out in the last picture. So this monster is definetly a Mahindra make.:deadhorse

Mahindra has probably developed an engine that would be developing 145-150hp.
It is said to be the best engine from their stable so far.
I think this one it going to get that engine.

Hmm. Excited about this one as well. Maybe with this car and Yeti coming in 2010, the current leaders may have to face a run for their money.

The Mahindra vehicle that has been spotted is the new platform that would be out in 2011 coded the W201...I have the privilege
of being one of the suppliers of an important component in the vehicle. The vehicle proto's are built in Chennai and this would battle with the Chevy Captiva's , CRV's & the premium SUV's. M & M claim it to be the World car built in India for the world

Few bits on info:

Comes with 2.1 litre CRDI
all round disc brakes
Projector headlamps - one in the test vehicle is just for endurance runs
LED's etc...
It would also feature india's first powered tailgate lifter.:)

All round disc brakes is definitely a welcome move.

Against Honda CR-V?pretty ambitious i must say.

Truly appreciate the info you provided. Mahindra continues with the practice of adding value with its new products.
As a supplier to this project, is particular attention been given to quality checks since Mahindra touts this as a world car and hopes to sell this in US & Western Europe. I am not too happy with current quality of plastics in the Xylo.

I dont know if am jumping the gun, but I am a bit disappointed with the engine specs. I would have settled for a bigger engine, a 3-litre one perhaps.

dont go with the displacement capacity of the engine my friend.

even a 2 lit engine can produce upto 150 bhp.

scorpio's & safari's 2.2 lit engine produces more power than innova's & tavera's 2.5 lit unit.

definitely a move in the right direction by Mahindra. But with the launch of this 2.1 L engines, what happens to the present generation engines. Are they going to phase them out ?

They are steppin into CR-V territory!!...hope they get everything right..but I'll be more than happy if they come even close...Lets hope it'll be a SUV and not a soft roader..!Everything looks promising..am a bit worried about the dynmaics though!:)

any hints on launch of this? will it take a lot more time? but i think pitching it against the crv might not be a good idea.. mahindra has still not got that luxury badge here.
not many people will be crazy to spend any thing over 13-14 lakhs onroad for this one

But they already are :). People are already paying more than a million rupees for a top-end Scorpio.
And I dont see why anybody wont pay around 15 lakhs for a bigger & better value for money car.
