Liked the Front Butch look except for the grill extended below the headlights. Seriously there was no reason to try make it funkier design? Could there be any particular reason?

The Side profile looks good too. However why the Arch below the C pillar? Just to break the monotony of the line? Doesnt seem to go well. Still the car makes a good presence in side profile.

Rear is okay but slightly reminiscent of Xyloish image. Wouldnt it have been better left a little plain than the diamond shpae there etc?

Anyway, overall like the XUV. The looks will take some getting used to for many. It does present as it was meant to be the XOver pitching against Aria.

Suddenly Aria is starting to look much Classier (it was anyway) and a better option.
Costing should be in the similar ranges I guess.

Guys, I just read up all the replies from page 110 in this thread and am laughing it out to my heart's content by seeing the creativity of the forum.
Wish the Mahindras had atleast some such creativity.

The headlights seem to have been lifted from the Dodge Charger (which has a pretty intimidating front) and they tried to mesh it with the trademark M grill. But I feel they screwed the grill/bumper big time by trying to put in the cheetah whiskers into it !


Bolero had a boxy/outdated design, but still got numbers due it it's ruggedness which was advantageous in the countryside.
Scorpio got numbers due to it's decent looks (compared to XUV) and can I say - almost no proper competitors (in that segment).
Now XUV being a global one, will most not get numbers from the countryside + cannot be priced anywhere near the Fortuner (everyone knows why) + might give free publicity/demand to Force One.

I would not even compare the looks of this thing with Aria. The new grande dicor ad i saw in HT was looking better than this thing! Bolero looks better than this!

Come on M&M , could have gone for elegance like captiva or aria or rugged looks fortuner. What is this a deformed baby?? Cheetah!! it looks more of a rodent.

The front grille looks out of place. Apart from that I find the exterior styling good. The rear is okay. I might be in the minority but in fact the rear looks sleek to me. The interiors are superbly done. As someone else mentioned it may make more of an impression up front rather than in pictures.
Now all depends on the actual on-road dynamics.

By now, we all know the work of M&M design team. May be they can steal some designer from TATA and learn to be classy at least?

They could have just looked at top 10 successful SUV designs and understand the design basics?

I had high hopes on this one but I guess it is my mistake to expect a clean, decent design from M&M.

The mesh jobs in couple of pics looks fabulous to say the least ! So all those prospective customers would have got the answers already on how to make it look better ! I hope the grill on the bonnet is a removable unit so that the mesh behind it stays on the car - will save some bucks if that's the case. Then we will just need to change the grills on the bumper !! I don't like the brake lights too !

Having said that, I love the stance of the car - Its quite wide & not so tall; would make very less body roll I guess.

Side profile is way too Outlander'ish to me. Whatever the exteriors are, I am already a big fan of interiors !! They have got 90% of it correctly I guess. The letdown there is the 3rd row ! Also looks like different interior / seat color trims for different cars.

Could I make a request to all whose going to pay a visit to the dealership? Can we have the pics of cars in all colors? That would help us decide which is the best looking color with these grills in place. Currently my pick is black since nothing will stand out and all these grills will just flow with it.

Edit:: As an exterior package, Aria is my clear pick here ! just love the way the car is seamlessly integrated [front, back & side profiles] !

Remove those Chittah teeth completely between the headlight and put some plastic filling at the front bumper's gaps and it should be alive.

Otherwise I really liked overall

If some can do it in Photoshop, would be interesting.

I feel the M&M designers were too busy with front, they almost forgot the rear. The rear looks under-done and the front is over done. The front still is acceptable in the grey colour. I have no idea why M&M had to play with the rear wheel arches , it would look a stunner if it were straight instead of the curved arches.
I have been waiting for XUV5OO for many days .. After the unveiling I feel like "khoda pahad nikla chuha". A big disappointment.

*Mods sorry for using this statement but this was the first line that came to my mind when I saw the XUV5OO.

I quite liked the designs of XUV500. Atlast some exciting SUV from a Indian Stable. Mahindra has tried to outdo themselves in a positive sense.

People used to sigh that Indian SUVs looked so boring and now they are complaining of the funking styling.
But I know, the interiors and console would have made everybody happy
I for one would go for it, if I am in the market for a SUV but only a black or red color.
Didn't see any price info anywhere?Is it not declared?

The car looks good for me. It's little bit overdone. But not awkward as so many people views.
The price is the game changer here. If it's less than 16 lakhs on road for the high-end model, definitely i'll book it before march 2012.

The rear resembles the SRX and the side the outlander. Somehow the aria's classy design now suddenly looks more classy and simple. I have seen Arias with modified wide tyres on after market alloys looking smashing.

The front is inspired by cheetah. Why? You can see it on the two cutouts on the bumpers itself. A cheetah's claw runs when he hunts the bait and so the designers ran a knife with enough behrehmi over a clay model and finalized this. Just plain hideous.
