re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakhs

Guys please check the technical specification of the XUV500 on their website Mahindra XUV500 | Price, Review, Videos, Test Drive, Photos and Specifications | Latest SUV in India

Two things that caught my attention are:
  1. All Independent Suspension
  2. All Disc Brakes

At 11L Price point the above two are definitely really good features.

Cheers

P.S: Shame on you Fortuner

That was a double shocker - looks and price!

A nice silhouette spoiled by over enthusiasm. As it is, Mahindra is known for hideous designs and after buying the Korean company it's gone from bad to worse. The rear is so Korean!

But at this price you have enough money to customize/correct(?) the looks

The scorpio seems expensive now.

Poor TATA Aria. Fate is sealed.

Remember all of the other Mahindra vehicles come with poor Ride and Handling balance.

Aria was anyways not scaring any other car even remotely, leave alone XUV! They had shot their own foot (if not head!) on the day of announcing the price itself.

Fortuner is a bit too far away for even XUV to scare, I think. Fortuner looks decades ahead of XUV, though, from bells and whistles perspective, yes, XUV wins! I dont think XUV can beat Fortuner's mechanicals yet - Mahindra is yet to prove in that terrain.

some of the bells and whistles are really first in segment

Laptop storing compartment in glove box

And good part is ABS and airbags(passenger) in both the variants

No Data on Ground Clearance, from the picture it looks low

And also goes to say best handling SUV made at that price. At least, it should then handle better than a Safari.

re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakhs

I am so confused with the XUV 500 - Why price the top end at 12.88 lakhs? Won't this cannibalize the Scorpio sales? Is MM phasing out the Scorpio? And if this is the flagship product, how are they able to provide this at such an attractive price-point, when their Scorpios aren't so distant from a pricing perspective?

I look the look of the XUV 500 - butch as hell, with the right mods + accessories. They should have mounted the spare tyre on the boot (a la Endy) and this would've looked extremely menacing.

Somewhere in my mind, I feel like MM is pricing at these levels to crash the bottom out of the market and gain a volume penetration or alternatively MM has skimped on something which is not visible - the price point is making me paranoid, I guess.

Whatever the reason - MM, I am so thankful that Indian manufacturers are growing up and listening to the voices of the crowd.

Agreed..

But my point is it may eat away most of the sales from Fortuner and even Innova(not to forget Mahindra's there own Scorpio).
Its totally shocking for me and i have not recovered from it. The reason for my shock.

1. Pricing - I thought the price may come around 15 Lac Ex showroom.
2. Styling and Equipments - Have never thought that Mahindra can come up with some bold style statement.

I am still not able to access the website for XUV, and google search also shows the pre-launch site only. Or am I wrong here?

It would be unfair to compare XUV's handling with either Scorpio or Safari as these chassis based SUV's have entirely different hardware with more rugged solid axles and chassis based construction. On the other side XUV should be compared(atleast for ride, handling and dynamics) to monocoque softroaders like Captiva, Tucson, Yeti etc.

Safari anyways is not the Handling benchmark, it's around as good or bad as the Scorpio.

Is this the introductory price? Can someone please confirm.

Although Mahindra has tested the product extensively I still would not be the first one to buy it. With so much gadgetry it is more likely to suffer breakdowns.

On a side note, why would anyone buy the Force one now? Or the Fully loaded Scorpio and Aria for that matter?

One question to the design team. Why the analogy with a Cheetah ?

I can foresee a whole lot of them growling around in Punjab!

Sorabjee tweets that the pricing is an introductory offer and may go up in 2-3 months. Nonetheless, spectacular pricing from Mahindra's.
An AT option also seems to be in the pipleline, possibly slated for a 2012 realese. Sure waitworthy.

Excellent on the pricing and features front by M&M. Interiors look good to. Now ride and handling remains to be seen. GTO and Mods : when we can expect a review?
