Very good pricing by Mahindra. It's sure to dent Safari sales, and might probably cannibalise the Scorpio sales as well. Some families opting for the Innova might be tempted to move to the XUV500. Given the base variant's pricing, some C/C+ segment sedans also need to be worried.

Pricing may indeed be introductory, but it's not as if it would go up by 30-40K after 2-3 months. The price hike may well be 15-20K.

Does the XUV500 have a variants with Innova-like captain seats for the middle-row? If not, they should consider adding it.

Still can't digest the looks, though!

Although Mahindra has tested the product extensively I still would not be the first one to buy it. With so much gadgetry it is more likely to suffer breakdowns.

On a side note, why would anyone buy the Force one now? Or the Fully loaded Scorpio and Aria for that matter?

One question to the design team. Why the analogy with a Cheetah ?

I can foresee a whole lot of them growling around in Punjab!
In the conference, M&M said that this is indeed the introductory prices and will be valid for 2-3months. However they did not say anything on the expected price rise after 2-3months.

Can't think of any good reasons to buy an Aria but Force One has a less quirky design which might appeal to many people. It has also has very good space in the second/third rows. Of course M&M has a lot of bells and whistles (and a 4WD) but Force One might still prove to be decent competition.

The front grill looks a bit like the X-trail!
The side profile looks like the outlander!
Rear profile looks like the Xylo!
Overall = so so..

Pricing = perfect!
Does that let M&M get away with whatever designs they throw at the masses?

M&M pulled the magic trick with the pricing! This is a great car for the price. Yes, the front still looks hideous, nothing that cannot be fixed aftermarket .

More than anything else, this is a slap in the face of Aria. 4x4 Aria sells at 14.5-16L ex showroom. While I haven't compared specs, I am sure it compares well - and this one is almost 3L cheaper.

Kudos M&M, and Tata - you really missed the bus.

Any figures with regards to the weight of the vehicle. It looks big and bulky and 140 bhp may be about adequate for it.

I can see the Aria's sales figure from 204 in August to 10 in October
Mahindra definitely has shaken most of the auto manufacturer with this killer pricing. I hope the price remains as is.

Amazon Green looks refreshing and suits well on this without looking odd. Red looks awful, otherwise Silver and black look good.

This is what other car makers need to learn from Mahindra especially the Tatas. Price your product well and enjoy huge success.

If the reviews come out well, I don't see any reason of buying any other commuter SUV, period. Even people thinking of sedans will move over to this.

Tatas if you are listening, need to slash Aria prices by a couple of lakhs just to compete.

Cheers

On the flip side, Force One are treading in a completely unknown territory. It could be a very nice car but the F badge does not evoke a lot of confidence for the price they are asking. Among the less important tit bits Mahindra has provided great practical features like the hill decent control, multiple airbags, ABS and what not.

In fact even the Gurkha [I have driven one] is fantastic for whatever it does. Seriously! Yet, how many of them do we see on road? Mahindra has that bad boy thing going for it. Trust me, the number of Bolero's I see is mind boggling. I have also seen people cross shopping it for a Manza just because of the butch image!

At 10.9 lakh it is really awesome pricing. The features the are providing in the base variant are just awesome. They are providing 2 airbags and all disc brakes in the base variant as safety features. Hope the price remains same. And yes Merlin should be also be priced similarly or else I think it will not be a hit.
