re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakhs

I like this SUV very much. Looks very decent, though front end could've been better.
And pricing is killer.

Look forward to seeing it on roads, and TBHP official reviews. Welcome XUV500.
Well done, Mahindra.

re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakhs

10.8 Lakhs pricing for W6 is fine but omission of ESP,Alloy wheels is a big error.

W8 4x2 model at additional 1.15L gives
1. DVD
2. Alloywheels
3. Leather seats
4. GPS
5. Tyretronics
7. Side and curtain airbags
8. ESP
9. Telescopinc steering

If XUV500 as a product sells in volumes Mahindra will keep increasing prices by10% in a year time that is for sure.

I think the color Red looks awful on this quirky design, making it look even worse.

Whoever designed the front was trying to put the mahindra logo into the bumper I believe. All said, brilliant pricing!

But I wonder, why is there no low end AWD? Because there is little difference between W6 and W8, I would have had a wider range for the product had I put W6-AWD between W8 and W8-AWD!

if it is only 10.9 lakhs, then we could see a downward revision of Scorpio prices. Once they do that, they have no choice, but to reduce Bolero, Xylo and Thar prices. Hope so.

Amazing package from M&M. Fully appreciating their verve to keep the beacon of indian manufacturing high up. Lovely effort and a force multiplier for the indian economy. Anand Mahindra - a HBS alumnus - and Pavan Goenka in mind are undertaking grass root level transformation in a sector that is core to India's growth as a global power in the auto sector. Ratan did it too but the M&M attempt is far more likely to fetch greater results. Here's a cheer for India Inc. Welldone!

Just Imagine >20L Toyota Fortuner does not come with ESP but 12.88L XUV500 has it. Hat's Off to Mahindra Guys for ensuring no compromise on SAFETY I Love it.... As quoted earlier by fellow BHPian Mahindra is indeed Maruti of UV's and much more than that as they have given safety features more prominence than maruti.

M&M made it right this time too. Its really a looker. For sure, Merlin & Aria will experience the toughest competition. Both may lose a fair number of prospective buyers. If the handling part is better, some of the "My next car will be an Innova" kind of people too Feature list is simply awesome for the pricing. Really VFM. Great going M&M

I drive a Scorpio - done 40K km, extremely satisfied and am surely considering an upgrade now. What pricing....

Seriously good pricing strategy. Good enough for me to recommend it to others but I still would't buy it for the way it looks.

And Tata needs to learn this art from M&M - price low at first with revisions (quiet and unannounced) every so often. Stealthy, but it seems to work!

Now to keep an eye on the XUV500 prices and do a comparo after 2-3 months to check the difference.

PS. I mentioned this before, but it went unnoticed. The Front discs seem not to be ventilated??

The price hike may well be 15-20K.
Very true! M&M have been really canny with the XUV500 pricing by keeping the intro prices at bargain basement levels and providing a lot of leeway for a price hike in the future. Now, even if they increase prices by a hefty 30-40k after 2-3 months, not a single variant of the XUV500 goes out of VFM territory.

Kudos to M&M for perfectly judging the market pulse!

Cheers,
Vikram

Not only ESP buddy, TFort doesn't have all disk breaks and 6-airbags too

I must say this is absolutely a killer price. My Scorpio AT is almost at par with the W6 version and for a couple of lakhs more you can get the super loaded W8. Lets wait for the reviews and see if this SUV really lives up to expectations. If its good enough I wont keep the Scorpio for very long.

Not a great looker (thanks to M&M Designers), but laden with features and that too at a good price. BTW it would be a costlier car by at least 60K as buyer will have to shell out money for modified front bumper, vinyl for tail lamps and spare wheel on rear door to have a decent look ...
