XUV (Xtreme utility vehicle??!!) sounds good but 5-oh-oh sounds weird. they could have come up with a better name. but of course, if the vehicle is good & value for money, who will complain?

The is huge and looks good too.
But the problem is even Xylo looked good and huge, but it did not reflect in bigger sales.

M&M have had success only on Jeep based platforms but have not been able to move beyond that with success.

They have not transferred the learnings from Bolero to bring out a successful model yet.
Hope they have some success here. Like mentioned earlier, if they cross the Million rupee mark, it would be difficult to market the vehicle.

I'm working on a project for a Tier 1 supplier that supplies for M&M. Based on the projections given by M&M, expect the launch during Diwali. Also expect the price to be in the range of 13 to 15 lakhs

Crossed one of those test mules on Pune-Nashik Road while coming back from shirdi. Yes, It the appereance is bigger than Fortuner and must say that it will have a good road presence unlike Aria. Definatly head turner it will be as it is not a brick design like Xylo.

At launch, Pawan Goenka called it the "5-Oh-Oh" (5OO) as opposed to 500 (5-hundred). Probably to continue the tradition of naming new Mahindra consumer vehicles ending with an "o".

Guys, the official press release from M&M about the new XUV 500: Mahindra's First Global SUV Christened XUV500

According to the excerpt this is "pronounced as XUV ‘5 double Oh’" and is a "next generation SUV targeted at Generation X, where the double O connotes the added Oomph value in the product"

Hmm,i'm not able to react to this,maybe something has gone wrong.I even checked the calender and it doesn't say 1st April! I told this name to my brother who works for a sister concern of Mahindra and he and his team mates were also surprised.He said maybe in keeping with the tradition of names ending with 'O',they named it PAANCH SAO(Hindi of 500). (BolerO-XylO-ScorpiO-Paanch saO). Comeon people at Mahindra,when you are taking out such a great vehicle and so many people are looking up for this one,why do you name it like this?You could have named this as RODEO rather than naming a scooterette of yours as Rodeo.

I wonder how many people would actually call it the 5 Double O. Hero Honda tried changing the way Indians pronounce Z with the CBZ with limited success, andI doubt MnM will be able to do better.
In my mind though the XUV is more cheesy than the 5 double OO.

I wonder who is responsible at M&M for product design and naming. Firstly they bring something as Xylo and now XUV 500 or Panch Sao.

I only hope the vehicle is good to keep people away from taking digs at its name.
