the petrol Fortuner has the exhaust on the right rear side of the vehicle, but here in this photo the tail pipe is on the left rear of the vehicle. the tail pipe is facing downwords, so thats a diesel for sure!

Nice catch! This is seriously a big one from Mahindra if it is from them. There are hints of fortuner but I can almost say for sure it isnt!

There is a talk of new mahindra for the army, but this one seem to be an unlikely bet with so much of glass house effect in the offing.
However, the wheels look a little too refined for being a Mahindra!

No way this is an Axe or Fortuner. Both of those vehicles are already seen publicly.

THis is Mahindra's all new SUV that will launch in 2010. Its bigger than the Scorp and possibly unibody.

Check out Pawan Goenka's interview with ET and TOI
Quote:
Lastly, what does Mahindra have in store for us in the near future?

Well, the big news will be the Ingenio. It is going to be our next big launch. We also have some commercial vehicle plans that include a sub-one-tonne four wheeler. In the passenger vehicle segment however, after the Ingenio launch you will see our all new SUV in 2010.
Quote:
A new SUV is currently under development and this will be out by 2010," M&M president Pawan Goenka told TOI. The new SUV, company officials say, is being designed with an eye on the international market and could be one of the big products for the company's world-wide plans.

Goenka said the new SUV would be "higher in content" than the Scorpio and based on "more enhanced technologies." However, he refused to share specific details on the project

The company had originally planned to manufacture the new SUV at the upcoming Chennai plant where it was to partner Renault and Nissan. But following its pull-out from the project, the SUV would now be manufactured at its plant in Maharashtra.

The product looks near ready. The fully furnished ORVMs signify that. Only the headlamps and the tail lamps are missing, just to make the photoshop experts' job a bit more difficult.

Mahindra was also talking about a 4-5 lakh budget MUV. But this looks much more expensive. Maybe this is a Scorpio replacement or something above than its price bracket.

could be the "all new World Class SUV" from M&M, which has been talked about in the press and which is planned for launch in 2010 - the upgraded successor to the Scorpio. One more pointer to M&M is that they have a tie up with JK for their Elanzo tyres- one can see the tyres are Elanzo but this is a pretty long shot to say for sure this is an M&M vehicle.

The ORVMs could have been lifted from another production vehicle. The PCD appears to be 5x160 -- which is a Tata and Mahindra favourite. The MH 15 plate has been blanked out by badboyscad, and originally contained a number below. And the killer -- MH 15 is Nashik, where Mahindra manufactures the Scorpio and Bolero. This is a Mahindra, alright. It's going to make the Safari run for cover.

Nice catch there.

It only appears to be BIIGGG : but is possibly just a little bigger than the Scorp / Safari : note the relative heights of the white-shirt-guy vs the already padded bonnet. This guy could be a little less than avg height. Also, if you guys remember the pic of @JK with his Safari - the bonnet looks at a pretty high level in that pic too.

But MH-15 : is it Nasik ? M&M ?

A nice catch!
The car in picture can be Mahindra's new SUV. We know that Scorpio is getting old now. This car will be replacement for Scorpio. But considering the huge vehicle, it can also be sold slightly above Scorpio.

But one more possibility that I think. Look at the peeled back design of the headlight slots. Also there is slightly look of smiling grille to be fitted. This can be Indicruz or Safari replacement also. The space for headlights, the grille pattern indicate that.

Whatever be the vehicle, I think it must be coming very fast. The headlights and tail lights are just temporary fitments, but otherwise it looks like production ready.

Did any try to identify the brand of tyre ? In one of the images, its possible make out the tyre brand. This can be an indication whether its Indian or not.

EDIT : By no means this is an army vehicle. Look the grille and headlight slots and its easy to recognize its meant for civilians.
Can this be a new offering from Hyundai ?

this should help.

It look BIG.

It should be a Mahindra and not a Fortuner as we already know that Fortuner exists and one doesnt need to take its body parts etc to test it. Its should be a new vehicle under test and hence naked.
