2) Current Scorpio is 4.495 mtrs. long, so is this SUV shorter than and overall smaller than Scorpio ? And with the given length of duster, I dont think that they will be to install 3rd row of seats.

IMHO, although it meets the looks and observations, I think this is not Duster SUV or may be I dont want to accept that this is Duster SUV. If its Duster, its one more wrong move as Duster is smaller than Scorpio and Indian market's perception says that it must be priced below Scorpio. If they place it below Scorpio, Logan will be the most hit.
oh is that dacia duster smaller than scorpio.? then i can bet that this new suv is not a dacia duster because is way bigger than the scorpio !(spotted it today)

saw this on coimby - erode bypass

i caught this vehicle on the L&T Byepass, Coimbatore, The guy was ripping it at 140+, This looked definitely taller, like a fortuner and really big, i could not take any pictures, guy zoomed ahead real fast, One thing i noticed is that the rear wiper was centrally aligned and there was a projection on the back door, at the right corner below the glass panel, not sure what it is, could be for mounting the stepney ??

The more i see the spy pics of the Dacia SUV, the more i feel it resembles the Mahindra undergoing testing.

Except for the Scorpio tail lamps, they do seem to have some similarities.

Since we are speculating ...

In one of the spy pics for accidental Mahindra SUV the length is approx 2.4 times the height of person standing in front. Assuming the person is about 1.8 m tall the length comes to be 4.32 m. Assuming there is some margin of error - it is highly unlikely it would exceed 4.5 m length. About 4.3 m to 4.4 m length seems very probable which puts it right in the duster range.

dear vijay,

the third row glass area and panel looks bigger and longer.

because of the fake cloth cladding, the real door underneath the cladding extends into the territory of third row glass area and panel.

hence the third row glass area and panel would look akin to duster once the fake cloth cladding is removed.

and as far as the question of dual exhausts goes, that has been raised by my other esteemed bhpians.

the very first picture on page 1 of this thread (also posted above by benbsb29) shows this vehicle without a dual exhaust, so the dual exhaust might be an option or a camouflage.

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

Frankly we have information from people/vendors who have access to inside information that this is an all new SUV from Mahindra which they have spent a long time developing.

For those of you who want to keep speculating the Dacia angle, keep at it if you have the time cause you will be proved wrong when the vehicle is launched. Trust me, this is not the Dacia by any stretch of imagination.

I too agree that M&M has been developing a home grown new SUV for 2010.

Offtopic, why do we assume the below camaflouged vehicle is M&M one? Can it be that another manufacturer can use scorpio tail lamps to mislead and keep their project under wraps!

IMO if it indeed was the Duster, I don't understand why they were driving around without body panels(fenders ,grille etc) when they already have the full fledged vehicle which only has to be modified to suit Indian conditions. I think Mahindra is developing a new platform here.

Spy Picture - Spotted during Road Test in Chennai

Can you guys identify this monster SUV?

I spotted this on 22nd Dec, during my regular commute to office around Tambaram, Chennai (GST). I tried to take a better picture and this is what I could get best, given the peak hour traffic. The guy did a nice job of escaping from the onlookers swiftly :-)

Possibly a Hyundai or Ford?

IMHO, this is new Mahinda SUV. A thread already exists.

I think this is the same car as :

Hmm. This guy has two silencers, whereas the pictures in your link show only one. It had TN registration.

@vprabu: why is the registration number masked? That is a clue to manufacturer.

Anyways, looks like the mahindra SUV.
