What is a Cougar transmission? Did you mean Cougar for transmission as Hawk is for engine?

140 BHP M- Hawk engine, should be good though.

Hope they get the quality right. Our Scorpio far from stinging the road remains stung itself more often.

^^ Hope they are also planning a lower variant with all essentials like ABS, Airbags, AWD etc but with lesser sensors and electronics, Just like Scorpio VLX and SLE.

It would indeed be lovely if they launch it here but as always the key will be pricing.

Here are the facts I had scribbled down somewhere: (if someone has already mentioned some of the points here then - well read 'em again !)
Thanks a lot for the info buddy. this now makes me more anxious.

Quote:
1. The new SUV is likely to be launched in mid 2011, but with the SSyongwhatchamacalitz takeover excitement it would possibly see the light of the day in 2012.
hope it gets launched atleast by july.

Quote:
3. Final shape would be something like Terracan from Hyundai.
thats good news. i was hoping it does not look like a MUV-SUV crossover like the Aria.

Quote:
4. Would have a host of features including traction control,LSD or diff locks, multiple small gizmos many of which are presently on the currentlot of Scorps as well - rain sensors, light sensors, TPMS etc etc. Air bags,ABS would be standard.
5. Cost would be close to 14 L ex showroom and on road would be around 16 L with some minor company supplied adornments.
total VFM! i can just make wild guesses what the 'adornments' would be!

thats not a bad thing. the mHawk is one of the sweetest motors in the mahindra range & now its tried & tested too.

Quote:
8. It would have a monocoque body.
better handling ha? thats welcome!

Quote:
9. The M Hawk engine would be transverse mounted - meaning engine
won't be mounted in- line (front to back) like it is now but would be cross
mounted in the bay - engine front back would be parallel to the dashboard
line. It would have an AWD option. Non AWD would be front wheel driven.
10. Electronic stabilty control.
11. Up hill/down hill/terrain assist etc.
12. Scoop ! It would have Cougar transmission - super silent, super efficient... car like.
Awesome! it seems to have everything & more you expect from a 14 lakh mahindra vehicle.

Trust this adds to the excitement of the wait !
guderian,
it sure adds to the excitement of the wait, but makes it just that little more frustrating!
on your notes though: point on point:
1. i was just recently confirmed by a Co. source that it is indeed 2011. so WE can hope to lay our hands on it in 2012 after the customary retrofits are complete. or maybe, if they offer your 60month warranty you'd jump headfirst right away!
3. final shape as depicted on artist's impressions here on the forum showed it to be much better looking than the terracan IMO.
4. thank god for that. i think it's high time, ABS, Airbags were made standard by everyone.
6. thank god for that too. the mHawk is now a sorted out engine, and a good one at that. i was seriously hoping they didn't change it.

I believe i spotted a camouflaged Mahindra W201 SUV under test in NH45 yesterday near Tindivanam. The SUV had nice road presence and had black and white checked camouflage.

Sorry no pics, as i was traveling in a bus and this test mule just sped away before i could reach for my mobile.

Yep, that one bit bothers me.
But,since Mahindra is having USA dreams,it's more suited for the efficiency bit.and also since most of the crossovers in USA have similar setups Mahindra would have wanted to play safe, but still a big jump forward regarding Mahindra.
(nxt gen scorp still ladder chassis!!,but pray they don't do the same mistake)

Spied images - Ssangyong or santa Fe?

I found this car last night..in our apt complex for few minutes. Absolutely no clue which car is this. Built finish clearly says either a mahindra or a tata vehicle. Friend pls find it out! however this had a TN registration which narrows down to Hyundai or a ford?

Thats the upcoming Mahindra SUV, various clues, especially the shape of the dash dials, front profile...

@Ajithbc, was there a third row of seating? Great catch nonetheless, good view of the interiors, please bookmark them.

It looks really impressive, although the interiors look very tacky, but these are just the initial cars and not the final production versions.
