I do not want to be in the rear seat of this car, judging by the photos on Pg. 50 of course! They look like they have absolutely no bolstering at all. Almost completely flat, like a cloth covered school-bench with pop-out head-restraints.

I do like the impressions that the front-seats give though. And the interiors seem pretty well designed too. I'm just wondering how feature packed this might be. Will it be able to pose a threat to Tata's new Aria in that front?

And if it looks like what's on the cover of Autocar India, then this new Mahindra SUV will be a serious contender for the best-looking SUV pageant.

C'mon Mahindra, make it happen!

I think its indeed the W201. Look at the ORVMs, the unique door handles & the shape of the bonnet near the windscreen.

The pictures posted by AbdulRahman are indeed W201. The camouflage is indeed the same. The pics on page 50 had a blue cloth/tarpaulin over it.

The SUV looks good and if Autocar's cover pic is true, we have a good looking SUV very near to the launch....

Spotted this car on my way to nashik. I was in my scorpio at about 110-120 kmph & was overtaking a truck. This SUV came up real swiftly behind me & flashed his light. As soon as i overtook the truck, i moved to the left lane to give him way. Before i could ask anyone to take a pic, this guy accelerated so hard that i could not catch up. I tried accelerating to 130 kmph but the SUV disappeared into horizon within seconds & i gave up!

The only thing i could notice & can confidently comment that this SUV has got loads of power, its real fast! And the way the SUV was being driven, i would say it looked pretty stable too. After all, its a monocoque.

Hi All,

Here are some snaps of an MUV/SUV that I had spotted in Anna Nagar, Chennai en route to work this Friday morning. All of a sudden I saw this covered up thing approaching me in my rear view mirror and had to block this guy deliberately until the next 2 signals to take the snaps with the phone on left hand. Couldnt post them immediately as didn't find time. Just managed to click these pics but I am not exactly sure who the manufacturer is, looks like either a Tata or Mahindra to me.

The mahindra SUV looks nice and beefy.Large ground clearance,wheel arches,3 row seating,nice alloy design,rear parking sensors,those unique door handles and a very aggressive front.

Its almost a year since I test drove this vehicle now and still this vehicle is not anywhere to be seen or heard about. Hope it sees daylight soon. Would be a good competition to the Aria.

Just got a news that Mahindra is testing & benchmarking this vehicle with the Hyundai Santa Fe!

A couple of weeks back I spotted two of these Mahindra test mules on the GST road near Vandalur. They were being driven slowly and had their hazards on. A closer observation showed that the first test vehicle had broken down and was being towed by a Xylo. I was amazed by the size of the vehicle. I hope Mahindra price it sensibly and don't get carried away by putting it against Santa Fe.

Mahindra needs the numbers more compared to TATA, for whom Aria seems to have been more a branding excercise, pricing against Santa fe benchmark would not work for Mahindra as they need to keep adding SUV's to their portfolio - it being their core business. TATA has the entire spectrum of cars from the small hatch to medium hatch to the sedan to the MUV, Crossover and SUV, so they can take a bit of a breather for branding with the Aria - though finally it will have to make up numbers in export sales if not in India itself. For Mahindra the new SUV should be able to break some new ground (being a monocoque design).

Benchmarking vs the Santa fe for quality and spec is fine, but for pricing it needs to way better.

Yesterday on my way to the market , i saw a zebra stripped vehicle and how i wish it was a mahindra but the temp no plate had TN on it , i chased it with my BB camera on and clicked a snap, the driver got an idea of what i was upto and started zipping , i could guess it was going to the Mahindra factory in our Vicinity after a interestnig chase could click some snaps when he finally stopped at the Mahindra gate, its a new vehicle that being tested ,looks bulky, bigger than Captiva, as big as Q5, looks interesting my first post hence excuse for any break in protocol if any. I had a same experience with the Thar being tested and could check in the vehicle earlier on, but the dash and all interior looked hand moulded, awas dreaming of buying one ,I kow its for off roading blah blah but man you are going to be watching it all through your drive,and my kids will think dads gone nuts, had announced to all my friends but was aghast to see the same dash in the expo , phew how my plans evaporated now lets see how this lives up.

Had a good chase with the Mahindra world SUV today!

It was really powerful. Pulled so fast, didnt give us any chance to catch-up! God bless speed breakers and traffic signals! Interiors looked blackish compared to the brown we had seen earlier! Or may be, just the sun fooling my eyes!

Headlamps look massive and wicked, with those projectors!
