Apart from a one liner post Im surprised that there are no comments regarding the pic with the frontal view. Is this a pic thats been seen before ??

The front grille does not seem to do justice to the overall design. Some of the photoshopped renderings in an Auto magazine had a better proportioned front grille. Lets hope the vehicle looks better in the flesh.

Me thinks the naming convention will certainly help M&M's global ambitions with this product.

Today, there is a news item on this XUV500 launch [in The Hindu] and its dated for end December 2011 as per M&M GM or VP. So, looks like M&M is waiting for Merlin launch !

Actually, I would imagine neither M&M nor Tata would like to share too much media space by launching vehicle together. Wouldn't staggering the launch dates be preferred, rather than having to compete for the customer's attention.

Unless they launch at the Auto Expo in January when all auto manufacturers get a lot of free media, especially for launches.

The press note in Hindu says that the pricing would be between 12 L and 20 L. I do not know Any car variation in such a wide pricing range.

However the article in Economic times have said the price will range from 12 lakhs to 14 lakhs!

It was quite heartening to read that the XUV 5OO(Its not 0 but O as in the alphabet) will match the stringent European safety norms and crash safety tests.The article stressed on the fact that Mahindra has emphasized on safety including the addition of ABS and stability systems in the new car.I hope Mahindra offers them as standard.Hydraulic mounts have been used to reduce NVH levels.

it is like a captiva more or less
the tough aggressive looks will certainly get a lot of the wicked politicos and real estate/ mining monsters drooling.
I would like to see the final production version as Im sure they have ironed it out properly from the proto samples I saw.

i expect XUV500 to have seats like Montero, which get folded into the boot floor, unlike fortuner and safari!

I've seen a test mule in Nasik 15 days ago and i can tell you that it is fairly big. I feel it will be a 5 seater with possibly child seats in the back.

It certainly didnt look as big as the xylo. In fact i may have seen this undisguised in mumbai a year ago. If this is the same car then i think mahindra has a potential winner (provided they dont price it like the aria)
