Re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 112 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakh

I know this is a SUV and the Innova is an MPV but couldn't help compare.

The Innova "V" fully loaded costs Rs.12.61L ex-showroom Delhi.

I have 1 question.
If we can get a 2.2L engine in a 6 speed SUV producing 140BHp & 330Nm torque.
Why cant we get a 2.2L engine with 6 speed transmission in any 10L sedan range? A muscle car may be!

Re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 112 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakh

We will never see a sedan in that range with a 2.2 litre Diesel engine in our country and the reason being bad fuel efficiency.I mean the Verna with its 1.6 litre diesel or the even the Vento diesel would be equally fast or much faster than a XUV 500 because of their lighter kerb weight.

Diesels today have amazing technology for example the E250CDI with a 2.1 litre engine offers 200 Bhp and 500nm of torque and infact produces almost the same amount of torque the V6 E350 CDI ekes out. This engine is available in a variety of tunes depending on the need. This is not just left to highend manufacturers, the Chevrolet Cruze has a 2 litre engine with a better output than the XUV 500.So I guess the size of the engine is no reflection on the performance on tap.

A very valid curious question. A manza with such an engine at price around 9 would surely attract enthusiasts. Hope indian manufacturers go in that direction forcing the others to correct prices. Future looks bright.

I have been reading this thread since long and was wondering what if M&M comes out with an Aria like pricing, well was proved wrong, and as many have commented, at this price point it looks like a good deal. Eagerly waiting to see it in flesh and drive it as well. Also can't wait to see it being reviewed officially on team-bhp.

@ asthedivx - I agree with you, in black this will look amazing.

Even GX is Rs 10.80L Ex-Showroom Delhi. And GX is like bare minimum of a car whereas the W6 is nearly fully loaded compared to GX. Its a killer for sure if it has got the guts. And added to that the superior power and torque to take it through worse terrains.

Man. this XUV has killer looks, I was completely bowled by the design, Kudos to the entire team for an amazing looks. I think the best view is from the front, can't wait to drive this baby, especially the automatic tranny.

Did anybody see this fab color?

I agree with you the price range is absolutely a killer! i think it will affect ARIA the most, as XUV's 4WD version is same as the Aria's 2WD version.. and as Mahindra claims that it is loaded with features, i am sure this will affect the strategy for Merlin..

whatever it is i was expecting this XUV500 to be between 14-16L bracket, but i think Mahindra has launched a winner now, and as far as the design is concerned, we will get used to it, after few months it will look stunning to us!

Re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 112 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakh

What a price. Mahindra guys have got it spot on. I think many people will get past the looks and buy it because of its price.

But ofcourse that is considering that the SUV has really good interiors and it drives very well.

But does the base variant have any features at all?
Just checked the site. The vehicle comes fully loaded even in the base variant. (AWD is only big thing missing). I think it is an excellent value for money.

Also it has a lot of color choices. I think green looks good. I would still need to see one in purple on road. It would be interesting to see it

Agreed. The black one looks way better as seen in the below picture from motorbeam.com - somehow I think it will look even better in daylight.

Never been a Mahindra fan, but this is a very well priced, nice looking vehicle in and out. I see no reason why it should not do well.

So i assume, even if i book one today, it may take 2-3 months to get delivered and the prices will be defenitely high at the time of delivery. How much high is merely speculation at this point. Also manufactures increase prices time to time "to adjust the increase in material cost" . If the pricing is real, MM should guarantee this price for the current booking, irrespective of the delivery date (Like Nano did for the original batch), will they do that?

Shankar, If you're planning to wait for an AT variant of this car, you might have to wait for a long long time. And trust me when i say that because i know for a DEFINITE fact that the company is not even really sure whether they want to bring an AT variant leave alone the time frame. I know that because no one, i mean no one would have waited more desperately for an AT version for this SUV and the disappointments I've faced as a result.
