Just spoke to G3 Kandivali,they have two (silver &Grey)XUV's for display.He is also arranging a TD for me on monday.
The on road price for the top model is 1525000.
He has asked to pay a chq of 10,000 now and balance 40000 in 2-3 days.
The most excitng part is that he said teh vehicle will be delivered in 3 weks time.!!!
I kept dreaming about the XUV all night.
I am ok with the plastic intriors,because I will be keeping my 2.5year old superb tdi.
One question though,will the dealer offer any discounts?

The folks over at oncars did a test drive and have some good information present. More importantly the writer states in the last page :-

"As I write this first drive review, one of the showrooms in Mumbai has already got bookings from over 25 customers for the XUV500 in less than half a day – so if that is anything to go by, I see the XUV500 become a cult vehicle in the near future just like its predecessors"

So maybe a bit early for discounts given the reported success its having

Unbiased and vague too. Not many details about ride and handling and performance.

And consider this :

Sunny comes in four variants – xuv 500 w6 and xuv 500 w8 (AWD). Available colours of XUV 500 are white, red, purple, green, silver, black and grey. XUV 500 W6 is price Rs.10.8 lakhs and W8 variant is priced Rs.11.98 lakhs.

Yes I fully agree. That's why entered relevant info in bullet points. I am so taken over by this launch that any new information about the car is good for me

From the short review at Vickis, looks like one should wait for sometime to see its road handling capabilities, plastic quality etc

Actually, this pricing makes even the c-segment sedans like vento, verna look over priced. I expect folks who are in the market for a c-segment car will invariably consider the base version of XUV too and whichever way you look at it, its definitely VFM. The only thing the base variant is missing is the alloys and thats probably the easiest one to fit aftermarket.

I'm also glad that mahindra didnt give the front grille chrome treatment as in the scorpio (it will definitely be available as accessory though).

I read somewhere the potential price points would have been determined during the product development stage itself, if so M&M has played it very smart in making everyone beleive this will be priced in the 15-20 lakh bracket and then launching it at a killer price tag. This is totally opposite to the way ford managed its new fiesta launch a while back.

I expect this XUV to do much more than 2k units per month. Well done mahindra, all the very best to you. My respect for the company has definitely increased after this launch.

The XUV500 has a production capacity of 2000 units per month. I am now a quite surprised with the positioning. At that price i don't think M&M is going to satisfy the demand for it anytime soon. Its a bit courious. Is M&M planning to discontinue the Scorpio in near future...?
