The mileage and the features are simply superb for this good a vehicle. A true VFM product yet again from M&M.

Seems the C2 segment market will hot up! This product will have huge orders and will become a trend setter for all upcoming vehicles.

The XUV will carve out a big following for itself and as CRV did for Honda, this could become synonymous with M & M. Also following this super hot thread, it seems that tons of Scorpio owners and that too many many TBHPites are already thinking of moving up the value chain with M & M itself and acquiring the new XUV.

This is great news indeed and shows the impression left by Scorpio on people who would like to embrace another offering even before test driving it. Also it would give many other first time S/UV buyers upgrade to a good and reputed pre-worshipped Scorpio (of TBHPians) and an outlet for present owners to sell and upgrade to the XUV. This could be a win win for both getting a good price and quality at the same time.

Please let know if there is a thread already on BHPians contemplating exchange and buyers exchanging notes. Else some one could start a new thread ( which section to start?). It can be called (TBHPians upgrading from Scorpio to XUV5DoubleO)

Yes, but some bit of chrome on front grill would enhance the look.
and the close second would be Amazon Green

any info on Headlamps - power / bulb rating, does this have a projector setup.also the fog lamps looks very small compared to overall front grill .

. Also on the Mahindra website there is a picture of black XUV with only the DRL and fog lamps on at night. Thats the best shot of XUV500 that I have seen so far.
If we color the black plastic behind those odd grills in body color and remove the faux grill it will work for all the colors that are on offer.

My predictions are as below:

1. Around 750 with the level of initial euphoria XUV has created
2. If the bookings are more than 1K units expect 40-60K hike before Newyear.
3. May sell monthly Between 300-500units
4.It may take some 250 units from Fortuner due to huge waiting period as this looks SUV unlike Aria. Aria might lose 100units as price difference is huge

So I drove into office today morning and there is already a Brand new XUV 500 parked in the Parking Lot !

I have been waiting for the XUV 500 launch before deciding between Force One or the XUV. When I saw the launch pics to be honest it looked like a cheap pre production Chinese poor attempt at a car. Ok ok it was not that bad, but I still could not digest the looks of the vehicle.

When you see the vehicle in front of you, it looks much better than the website. The front actually manages to look decent and am sure the Black will do a better job at covering up the Front Bumper.

That being said, the plastics looked a bit cheap on the front bumper. The brown interiors looked out of place and dont seem to go with the vehicle. Personally I would prefer an 'aggressive' vehcile to have black interiors. Not a pasty looking brown.

The big wheels looks good and my colleagues who had not even noticed the XUV 500 (surprising because it was the Bright RED color) had it not been me jumping out of the car didnt seem too impressed with the looks of the vehicle.

I then sent a couple of colleagues who were interested in purchasing an SUV to go check it out. As expected I got mixed reactions with one being put off and the other going tommorow to the nearest dealership with a chequebook


To Sum it up: Its a great buy at this price (if you stick to the Black color). Now should I wait for the Merlin or the Duster ?

Mumbai/Pune ex-showroom prices are cheaper than Delhi!! So the W8 AWD will cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of 14.5L OTR in Pune. That's awesome!
