People like us deserve to get the current prices, don't you think so?
At the end of OverDrive youtube video, Shirish mentioned that the introductory price is for one month! If M&M keeps its words then nothing to worry! The YouTube link is available on this thread, Shirish mentions the M&M executives name who conveyed the validity of the introductory price! If required, you can send a mail to him!!!

Very good positioning by M&M. Tata would surely be rethinking it's pricing strategy. If I only had the money, I would have booked mine by now

When I was stepping out from the showroom at 1900 hrs,a plum w8 awd test drive vehicle arrived, and I was the first guy (knowing that they had already accepted the cheque) to TD the XUV.And it was just Wooooow!

Very responsive engine.Lovely interiors.

To cut it short,I am going to keep my 2009 superb in the parking lot atleast for a year.

Jeeyo mahindra!Made in India Proud of it!!

P.S :Fortuner,aria,captiva,endys,koleos RIP!!!
Wow CONGRATS. I thought you were planning to TD on Monday. You are faster then the Cheetah in your decision making

I was at the G3 showroom at 4 PM today. It was busy like a market place and they were accessory loading a W6. Glad you could take test drive today itself.

CONGRATs again. Which one did you book the W6 or W8 or the AWD W8 ? what was the delivery timeline ? Is that how much they are asking for booking 40K ? Any freebies or discounts, mostly not I guess.

Re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakh

Hi Guys,

Visited Mahindra showroom today and checked out XUV.

My Impressions:

+ves
1. Build Quality - Very Good
2. Looks - Very Good
3. Space - Very Good for the Middle seat but Safari feels more roomy
4. Features - Excellent
5. VFM - Definitely 100%

-ves
1. Driver position/view -
i. As soon as I entered the driver seat , I felt claustrophobic. The cabin tries to chew you and you get the feeling of being crushed.
ii. The windscreen is curved a little too much for my liking
iii. The headroom is better in my swift than in this one.
iv. If you lower the height then you cannot see the bonnet, if you increase the height, you will see 70% of the bonnet, then you might touch your head to the roof. I'm 5'10" and felt like this. My colleague is 6 and he felt the same when he sat in the seat as well.

2. The seat color combo
W6 seat combo (Black and Plum) looks better than the W8 (4X2) and W8 (4X4) brown-plum combo.

Please understand that I went there will lots of hope and wanted to book it. I have been drooling over the pics for 2 days now and couldn't stand it anymore and rushed to the showroom today. I love the looks and features and feel it's a great feat to design and add these features from Mahindra and still keeping the price so low. But the driver's seat put me off from all the excitement. After all, I and my wife will drive it and she also loved Safari's driver's seat position and view.

In next two days, will post more pics from different angles and also review from my test drive .

I have no doubts on the engine/drivetrain here.
Saw one today on Sankey Road near the BDA office and was a test mule heading to some showroom. Pulled over and asked the gentleman driving if I could click a few pics and he never obliged. Couldn't do much but oogled at the front and was my head for the rear design.

Re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakh

Can someone tell me what is the service interval for the XUV 500?

I was a bit disappointed with the 3 month interval for the Xylo and I am hoping Mahindra has done better since.

Re: New Mahindra SUV for 2011 - Pics on Pg. 109 *UPDATE* XUV500 launched at 10.8 lakh

So here is my little story.....
year 1998 : Smitten by the enigma called Tata Safari @ Auto Expo, Delhi
Harboured dreams since then of owning that beast & conquering every terrain !

1998 - 2011 : Cars purchased/Driven extensively - Zen (98), Opel Astra (01), Indigo(04), Honda City (05), Altis AT (08).
Two life changing events :
A) Owning a Tata Indigo changed my perspective Tata forever (for worse).
B) Got Married & thus sedated sedans like to City & Altis !
Continued to secretly live my teenage fantasy by ogling at the big brute SUVs & taking one test drive every 3 months , especially the Fortuner, however could never get myself to spend 20 Big ones on something as basic as a Fortuner (given the Innova interiors).
Ford Endy/Captiva/Tuscon/Outlander/CRV/GV etc didnt really get me excited for some reason or the other!
To cut the story short : Mahindra was never ever, Never Ever , NEVER EVER in my consideration set (just never got inspired by a scorpio or Bolero).
Come 30th Sept 2011 - Walked into the Mahindra Showroom @ Gurgaon at 4:30pm to check the &^(&&)( .... what say that again....."XUV 5 oooh oooh" (what a dumb *** name)!!!
Rushed back home to get my wife @ 6:30pm
Reached the showroom & Booked the car with a cheque @ 7pm.
Volcano black W8 AWD
What the heck just happened ? Have I lost my ability to think straight ?
No Test drive, No reviews yet available at Team-Bhp, Never been (even remotely) a fan of Mahindra vehicles!!!
Guess what - there is a time & there is a place : but for the Cheeta & not some creature with a congential defect (pun intended).
MY SALUTES to the Mahindra team for making an irresistible offering that it converted a individual who cared two hoots for their brand into a staunch believer in their ability to create world class products (alteast from a safety perspective).
WHAT A RUSH..... havent been so impulsive in a loooooong loooong time !
Thanks team Mahindra.
Cheers

P.S. - Veterans @ Team-bhp, pls pls send in your verdict / test drive report so that my belief turns into conviction !

Sirish said the introductory price is for 3 months. Again it can be perceived in two ways

1. After 3 months, people have to pay the revised prices irrespective of the time of booking [even if they booked within the first 3 months]

2. For everyone who booked for 3 months, the invitational prices remain till the deliveries are completed [like nano - all the first bookings till a cut off date got the introductory price]

I would still think / believe that they will follow the 1st mode. And from the below post I guess we already have an unlucky 2500 customers [M&M has a capacity of 2000 vehicles (or was it just a sales projection?) per month & for 3 months, 6000 vehicles will be delivered]. But then I would term it UNFAIR ! They should rather keep a cut off date & whoever books till date will get the car at the introductory price irrespective of delivery time.

Also note that the bookings / launches are not yet done for the Tier II cities, so all of us who come in that slot have already lost the pricing advantage.

And this "all over India" includes just 5 metros as of today! The car is yet to be rolled out to other cities & imagine how many are holding on to their cheques !! Truly a game changer !

Bloody hell...u guys are having fun and I am shivering at Rohtang pass tomorrow...I just am beginning to love this vehicle's polarizing styling and the mostly positive reviews its getting. Let the navratra rush get over then next sunday I may take a good TD in Delhi.

What a launch ! It`s a really tempting package. However, i would personally not go for any other color except black for obvious reasons.
Looking forward to the initial ownership reports.

Now i am just wondering should i book it tomorrow or wait till the time it comes in canteen to save some money. What do you guys think would be better? I dont think that Mahindra will increase the price by 1 lakh or so for the base variant in the near future, or are they?

not bad at all - 4 months worth of production on day 1!!

I think that poor old Force One had better shut down and cut its losses.
I dont think it will even come close to the XUV500 overall.

It clearly shows that if a vehicle is priced correctly then it can be a huge success. So much bookings in couple of days is just mindblowing. If TATA would have priced Aria properly then it would also have been a huge success.
