It is present in both AWD as well as 2WD. There is no difference in the feature list between AWD & 2WD.

Deadly space in the 2nd row.

The dashboard storage spaces and shiny laminates. Press the cover and visibly creates gaps as seen. But opens quite softly to reveal the felt-lined storage. What is the last part with a button like thingy?

But looking at the reflection of the showroom lights from the surface of the laminates, I think it could be too shiny and again distraction in the night driving.

Don't know about the internal color restrictions, but the guy at the dealership said the W8 does not get the 'Moondust Silver' and the 'Tuscan Red'. While I am not so sad about losing the red (although I didn't see it in person), the silver looks good and would have been our first pick.

Actually it is the light sensor for the automatic headlamps. The Climate control system doesn't have a sunlight sensor just a normal temp sensor.

Can you help understand further ? Why do they need a sunlight sensor for A/C ? It can be a hot and humid night.

IMHO, this can be a sensor for Auto Lights, GPS receiver etc. But not confirmed. Will have to remember to ask as and when I visit the showroom again.

Yes. At night or when you go inside basement/tunnel with low light the headlights turn on. At the same time the lights will turn off when you go from dark area to bright area. It's just a simple ambient light sensor.

Right, that is the way any good product focussed company will do. It is an activity driven basically from "brand goodwill creation perspective", some industry also call it "best by test". By offering a TD, they are not only creating a prospective customer but also a word of mouth publicity vehicle, part of their marketing exercise where with lesser marketing/media spend they create a bigger brand penetration. You can view this that how Mr Mahindra carries himself on Twitter, carving a value for the Brand Mahindra !

Cheers!

I just searched the brochure again and it does say a feature like "Intelligent light sensing headlamps". Quite a feature.

But if lets say some papers/envelope or something kept on my dashboard slide over this sensor while I am driving in daylight, it will sense darkness and turn on the lights when it actually should not Just speculating. There must be some settings done in the sensor to know the correct conditions. Else it will boil down to things like "how do I now turn this feature of?".

That is actually sunload sensor. This helps in heatload calculations for fully automatic temperature control otherwise called climate control HVAC.

one example with spec...

Yes if you cover it with a paper, the lights will come on. Infact in the evening say if you drive below some tree cover the lights will come on.

Switching them off is simple. On the light stalk, you have off, the parking lights, then low beams. With auto light you will have another option "auto" marked with an A. Only if you keep the stalk in that position is the auto headlamp function activated else it is off.

Sorry Silhouette but I can assure you that this is a light sensor. Having a heatload sensor means the climate control system has to be much more advanced and would need a heatload sensor on all 4 corners. Yes the Leaf may have it and so do Audis and BMW's but definitely not on this car.

That is indeed cool. Wish I had looked at the light stalk and snapped it.

Sorry if this is getting too stretched. But I am thinking why the sensors could not be put inside the headlamps cluster (2 synched ones) so that they would have actully detected the luminosity on the road with the actual driving condition ahead on road and turned on the HLs more accurately.

I read a doubt about headlight sensors in one of the posts. I think it would be similar to auto headlights in Scorpio. The lights come on automatically and switch off depending on outside light condition. It does work - have been using it for 2 years now (touch wood) and yes, there is switch to turn it off.
