Saw a white color Jazz doing rounds in Noida today. It looked really beautiful in actual life (much better than pics). There were no attempts on Honda's part to conceal the car at all!

Sort of. The NHC was based on the Gen1 Jazz/Fit. This is the Gen2 Jazz we're getting.

the car looks big and roomy. Not sure how a 1.2 L engine will be able to cool it in Delhi summers. But then its a Honda.

Interiors, I am gunning, it will be best in its class, i20 has already raised expectations, now with navigation etc, it has to be the best and beat other cars.

Eagerly waiting for the launch.

I did some analysis viz a viz the prices in the thai market for the Jazz and the City.

While the base model of the city is priced at around 524,000 baht = 742,455.96 INR with the top model selling for about 694,000 baht = 975,999.71 INR
(we are paying a hell lot more for the city as compared what the thai folks pay)
The base model of the Jazz is priced at 560,000 baht = 787,278 INR and the top model sells for about 705,000 Baht = 990,536 INR
All in all, the Jazz is priced over and above the city. I dont see much success at that price point if the same is retained in India!

I would think the lower excise duty on the Jazz will help them price it under the City in India. Developing a 1.2 l engine just for India is testament to the fact that the excise cut is critical to Honda's pricing.

Like I've said before, this segment is going to see cars with some of the best features/bang for the buck thanks to lower taxes. The lower excise duty has allowed companies from Hyundai to Honda and (eventually) Toyota to launch cars that would otherwise be too expensive to sell in India.

Will people take a top-end variant with auto-transmission if it comes just under 7lacs ex-showroom ?

Or is it that i am too optimistic to expect that .

Isnt the Thai version Jazz with 1.5L engine ? If so then this comparison is meaningless as in India we are getting 1.2 L engine which wont be as powerful.

Factoring in the excise benefits for small cars, the base model of the Jazz would stil be priced around Rs 736,485. I have not been able to factor in the cost savings from using the 1.2 engine as compared to the 1.5 version.
would any of our experts here be able to quantify the probable cost savings from the switch?

This is a known fact for long - infact since the Honda ANHC launch - Honda itself stated that all future cars will have safety features as standard in all variants.

hey if i20 can give dual airbag, side and curtain airbags and abs climate control. i pod integration and stuff like that. under 6 lacs ex showroom price.

and Honda jazz with base model at 7 lac. without climate control. audio system, side and curtain airbags. audio controls on steering and yeah they always forget the fog lamps and alloys lolz omg.

thats too hard to digest. i mean come on Honda is that why they priced the city at 8-9 lacks so that they can get adjust at 7-8 lac wow! way to go guys!!!

i know its roomy, has like 10 cup holders, magic seats and stuff like that but still, why oh why the prices are such.

people complain about skoda high price tag but now even the base model is starts at. 4.9 something (pardon me if i am wrong with prices and details)

i will fall off my chair if Honda gives us. 6 speed auto trans with flappy paddles. 10 cup holders . climate control, alloys, some god damn fogs. side and curtain airbags. i will jump through the window if they offer panoramic sunroof

Today's news paper says it will be launched with 1.2 with 7 lacs (X factory) price.

VP marketing Honda is confident of its success.

So, IMO, it ends almost all guesses.

Be prepare to spend >8 lacs on road.

TOI is saying: the costliest Hatch in India. (a premium Hatch)

Fantastic! As if a sad steering and underpowered (actually under-torqued) engine wasn't enough.
