If it is true then I guess my calculations have been validated.

All guess-work apart, lets see what the actual price point is. If you take a gander to the interior of the Jazz you will find that it is surprisingly well appointed. To be able to deliver that at a price point lower than 6.5 would be a masterstroke.

Any ideas as to the power output of the 1.2 Lt powertrain?

Suddenly Ford Fusion starting to look great value (to me it always was). It is powerful, fun to drive, has great steering feel, very spacious, may eb the ineriors are not the best. If Fusion did not do well and Jazz is to be successful, it takes some miracle.

Whatever be the plus points of Fusion, it is a "car of no c(h)aracter".

Well it did not appeal to potential buyres may be a better way of putting it. It is a subjective thing. Few like who bought it saw a strong charectoer of it's own.
Sorry for OT. Let's get back to Jazz

Honda in my opinion have always been overpriced!
I guess one has to pay a premium for the"H" Badge.
The initial investment is high and the cost of spares is higher (ofcourse the frequency of the change of spares is low.)
But in case of minor accidental repairs the service station would charge a bomb.
But Jazz with 7L price tag would have tough competition from Fiat GP, i20 and i feel somewhere down the line the fabia would make sense too!

I had mailed TOI who had written the below article , asking about the price,
Honda to roll out Jazz with Rs 7 lakh tag - India Business - Business - The Times of India

got the below reply
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi ,
Well, all I can say is that the price mentioned in my story is what it will be at the time of the
Jazz launch. It can be a lil bit here or there, though. And yes, this price is for the base model,
that too ex-showroom.

Thanks:

...that too ex-showroom.

I really thought 7L wasn't the base model, so 8L base on the road....what stops people from just buying the honda city then?

Could this be the car that makes people lose faith in the brand?

7L base model? Wow. Maybe they've encrusted the dashboard with Svarovskis!

I can't see even the most ardent Honda fans buying the Jazz at the prices being mentioned. Maybe a handful of folks, who have to be 'different' from the rest of the crowd will, but most folks will shy away for sure.

In any case, all of this is speculation. Let's hope Honda has more sense than to overprice the car in these market conditions!

at this price Honda can expect on a average 500 pcs a month to be sold.

i guess honda will not be keeping huge sales targets for a 8 lac hatchback here.

For the first few months it might sell 800- or 1000, but i think it might hover around 500 pcs a month.

Not sure if these are 'Success' figures that the Honda VP-maketing will have in his mind.

cheers,
ac.

Jazz Advert Shoot in chennai

There was a photo shoot in front of my office (RMZ Millenia Park, Chennai). The crew (foreign national technician's) used red (same colour as the NHC) Jazz for the shoot. I was not allowed to take a snap of the car but i was allowed to take a closer look. The interiors looks amazing, especially the center console. Quite roomy in front and back. The air con knobs looked cool and chunky. Steering wheel started to look old (after seeing in NHC and Civic). The version i saw today did not have alloy wheels and fog lamps. Jazz comes with Michelin tyres and wheel caps. Luggage space is quite huge for a hatch, can be compared to that of a Fusion (correct me if wrong). Only two person can sit comfortably in the back seat, there is a hump in the middle which will make it difficult for the middle passenger to sit.

To me the overall profile doesnt look that huge.
