Baleno Price Hike and discount

Baleno price has been increased by Rs. 4180 and at the same time discount has been increased from Rs. 15000 to Rs. 20000(worth of MGA).
What do you think strategy behind this?

I do not think there will be any commerical motive behind this. It is very difficult to guess out the exact reason for the hike as there are many reasons factoring to it.

In India, this discount model has got expectional attraction. Hence this is nothing new to the indian market

Swift might eat the sales, or an alarm of recent down in maruti sales(baleno might be low). I have been reading all the threads in the forum, and have changed my mind abt baleno. Now it seems to be like a performance car rather than a pathetic shape, slobby, no- one- buy- old car.

Hmm is this forum secretly promoting BALENOS at a higher level??

Well,
Maruti is trying too woo buyers by offering 5K more worth of MGA (true value should be 3500) but is increasing the price by Rs4200 so in a way, they are making a profit of Rs700 more per car.
If one opts for a cash discount it will be some 37K ish (remember when they were giving us a benefit of 60K in terms of ins, MGA but if one opted for cash disc, it was only some 48K).
Anyway, the reason we are seeig so many balenos is because of its combination of price, rear seat space, comfort, FE, power and maruti reliability.
Wonder why the Petra is doing so badly? (cheaper, comfortable, fast, better looking, better interiors and features)

i guess this price hike is associated wid the increase of the steel prices....so they hav increased the prices of all the maruti models by apppox 1-2%....as we all know...baleno's sales are not upto the mark..so this discount is to make sure that..the price hike doesn't affect the sales of baleno...so they hav increased the discount by 5k...this is wat i can make out...

Discount is cuz Maruti are celebrating sales of 5 million cars.

Price hike. You read the reasons right by rookie. It is hike in steel and prices of other inputs.

NO.
Never.
The Baleno is more comfortable, faster, better looking (in dark shades) and only looses out to the city in terms of space, quality and FE.
These cars are sold for different people all together.
For eg - If the car was for me then the Baleno modified wheras my mother and brother would choose the City as their requirements were different.
