The most misleading ad of recent times is that of Scorpio. White Scorpio jumping dunes, golf in the desert, the guy stepping out to tee off. Now this guy, sporting stubble, sharp features and designer clothes looks more like heir to an italian/spanish business empire who lives in Monaco, drives a Ferrari, yachts in mediterranean and has a bevy of size zero girls most of us can only dream of. By no stretch of imagination can this guy be portaited as a Scorpio driver. Compare this guy to the paan chewing, foul-mothing, dhoti/lungi/payajama-kurta clad politicians/real estate brokers/goons and goon type business guys who can't even spell Scorpio and who drive this vehicle on our roads like they own the road.

Is the clientele the company's fault? The company makes a product, and chooses to market it as they feel appropriate, and i dont see any instance in the ad where they offend anyone's sensibilities.

As for the people you mentioned above, do you really feel everyone buying a Scorpio belongs to the above category? I am sure many Scorpio owners on our forum would want to set right that misconception.

I agree that the clientele who decide to buy the car arent the company's fault.

As an aside I know someone who easily falls into the category of "paan chewing, foul-mothing, dhoti/lungi/payajama-kurta clad politicians/real estate brokers/goons and goon type business guys who can't even spell Scorpio" who owns 2 S class, and 1 7-series.

Here is a failed marketing attempt from Lexus.

Can you spot the obvious flaw in the pic

What the hell! OMG Is that a ghost driving the IS-F convertible ? That's the find of the day!

I cant believe Lexus actually published such an ad!

The Safari's ads we re great. 'Make your own road' and so were the ones for the Fiat Palio featuring Michael Schumacher although that didnt help the car much.
Oh and did I mention the ads for the Alto, where it overtakes an express train?

With Indian trains that is an absolute possibility.
Most Indian express trains travel at less than 100kph.

Consider this. The "Super-fast" train from Chennai to Kanyakumari takes 14 hrs to reach the distance wheras you can cover the same distnace in an Alto in 10 hrs with a lunch break plus another 2 or 3 chai breaks in between.

The Zen Estilo advert about the 'Boxes'. That's something I dint really understand until this day. What was the real theme behind it?

Indigo Manza - Something's missing ad. It's big a leap for Tata. Agreed. But nothing's missing in the car? LOL

The real theme was maruti shooting at it's own leg - Ridiculing the boxy Wagon-R

Hilarious with the advertisement. Burnouts on all the cars with no drivers. Got to give it to the man who led this ad
