Toyota to raise car prices, and small car launch soon

Toyota India Increases Prices

The price hikes by Toyota Kirloskar Motor will be effective from April 1, 2009. The Corolla Altis will be costlier by Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000.
As for consumers looking to buy the Innova, they will have to shell out Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 more.

Reason: "due to unavoidable reasons such as recent changes in the rupee/dollar and yen/dollar exchange rate, we are now required to make necessary revisions in pricing.”

Surprisingly, no news about Camry - may be to reduce the shock effect (like what happened to CRV).

Small Car from Toyota India By 2010

“The small car will be entirely new, designed specifically for the Indian market. Work on our second plant in Bangalore is on schedule and some of the additional capacity will be for the small car”.

Ha Ha Ha.

The same old reason to fool Indian customers yet other time.

But unlike Honda Toyota has blessed us by increasing only upto 50,000Rs.(Honda upto 3.5 lacs!)

Thank you Toyota for doing such noble thing to us.

Damn, I saved close to 1.5 lakhs by buying a Dec 2008 mfd Altis in Jan 2009 as opposed to buying current mfd one in April !

The Japs need extra cash to pull themselves out of the recession and India is a good place to start...

Yeah, if Toyota increased the prices of the already sky high Camry, Indians will forget the car altogether!

3.5L was for CRV. Civic had hikes between 50K & 60K - comparable with Altis.
Smart Toyota hasn't announced hike for Camry.

If I remember correctly there was a hike in Innova prices before the new version was launched by about 10k to 20k in january first week or so.
When the new innova was launched they announced that there is no price hike.
Wondering whether other manufactures will also follow suite. Car loans are cheaper now. But car prices are increasing. So all back to square one.
