If 1.6 comes to Linea,it should be auto which makes good sense and we can see some VFM if price at a premium of 50 - 75 K

Fiat to launch Linea 1.9 L Multijet in India

hey!

Just read in Vicky.com that Linea will be launching their 1.9 L Linea in 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi

Quote

Fiat India which has been buzzing with impressive sales of Punto and Linea wants to ride on the success of the models. Come 2010, at Delhi Auto Expo Fiat will showcase the powerful linea. Currently, Fiat linea is powered by 1.3L diesel engine and 1.4L petrol engine. Linea owners which boasts about its features complains on lack of necessary punch. Fiat has powerful diesel engines – 1.6L and 1.9L* one of which will make into India.* The 1.6L Multijet produces 120PS of peak power. The 1.9L multijet version comes with two configurations – 8 valves and 16 valves. These engines have four different power outputs – 100PS, 120PS,130PS and 150PS.* Should linea car enthusiast start rejoicing! wait till the auto expo..

If this happens along with an interior upgradation and sensible pricing, I'm sure Linea would become a hot selling sedan.

Vicky.com ?? I think you are mentioning Vicky.in
1.9L Linea ?? woha, that would push linea into the D segment pricing. With its current fit and finish and the Tata-Fiat image can it survive the competition there. Fiat is a good car but with the current A.S.S in TASS caring for fiat, I wonder if one would be happy shelling out that much amount of dough. Wake up fiat, we have the Honda City AT (Ps - Am no fan of honda but if you look at the general consensus of the buying public, the name is still something !!), entry level corolla and Cruze and the aging Innova (though a different segment) at that price band.

Unless fiat works magic overnight and gives a superior fit & finish + reliable A.S.S, it will be very hard for a 1.9 priced at 11L to survive. I still stand by my earlier version. The Emotion Pk with 1.6MJD priced at 9L exS.room will be a VFM offering by Fiat with absolutely no contenders (unless Fiesta 1.6D or a verna replacement arrives in time)

Resounding MAS's earlier post on a 1.9 Linea, here is a website link that has information about 1.9L Linea being exhibited in Auto Expo 2010 - Fiat Linea 1.9 litre version to be launched at Auto Expo 2010 | DWS Auto India - It says "It has just been announced that a 1.9 liter version of the popular Fiat Linea will be launched at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi."; Not sure who / where such an announcement has been made. Fiat hasn't released any press release yet from what i goggled. But if this is true, then fiat is trying to tread the D segment. Good luck fiat.

good god. i feel like a fool paying 8.5L for the 1.3L liter with such a terrible build quality... 8-9 trips to service centers to get bugs fixed in the last 3 months.

argh. fiat has to do something about the tata service centers. provide more workers that are skilled in fixing the fiat cars. i end up dealing with tata guys most of the time who have no idea about the problems with linea.

In my opinion Fiat is trying to make 1.9 diesel not only for the Linea but also for upcoming Suv's of Tata motor, which will be assembled at Fial's Ranjangoan plant.

Him Patparganj seems good (I've been there once) but they are too busy with too many cars (Tata mostly).

Elegant cars is a good old Fiat Service Centre.

@ Srikanth-- Sorry, that was Vicky.in

IMHO, Fiat would carry out the heart transplant along with better interiors (based on customer feedback) with a slight upward revision of price. I feel that this upgrade to a higher spec heart is necessary to keep competition at bay. For example, with the recent price reductions, the Optra Diesel will eat away into Linea 1.3L sales in no time.

Still, if Fiat tries to position Linea with 1.9 L in the D segment, it will never sell.
