I believe, base price of Rs 1lac is ex-factory price. Because of taxes & duties, handling, insurance and RTO makes it above 1lac.

Still prices are very good, atleast people who cant even buy M800 can atleast think for nano

One lakh is pre-VAT, including VAT it becomes 1.21L, next add road tax, insurance.

Going by the titles, post 1 is the on-road price and post 2 is the booking amount.

As most of the buyers would be going for a bank loan the EMI for the Nano and the 800 with power steering wont be that much-what say?

Has anyone worked out the same?

TV review said, Nano diesel will be available within a year.

It will be interesting to have pricing for that.

The prices for Maruti 800, ex-showroom, New delhi are :

M800 STD LPG
199210.06 ( Non-Metallic ) 201482.34 ( Metallic ).
M800 A/C LPG
218767.86 ( Non-Metallic ) 221040.14 ( Metallic ).
MARUTI 800 MPI BS III STD (WITH IMMOBILISER)
184896.19 ( Non-Metallic ) 187168.47 ( Metallic ).
MARUTI 800 MPI BS III AC (WITH IMMOBILISER)
204453.98 ( Non-Metallic ) 206726.26 ( Metallic ).
MARUTI 800 MPI BS III AC (LIMITED EDITION)
209416.12 ( Non-Metallic ) 211688.40 ( Metallic ).

Now compare the prices 2,06,726.26 with 1,72,260.

IMO, anything more than 1.3 lakh for such a minimalistic machine like Nano is not good value.

Lets see how the game goes on. But the prices are on the higher side and I was expecting Rs. 1 lalk approx on the road and not ex-factory price.

No manufacturer can promise OTR or even ex-showroom prices as Excise, Tax, Cess, Insurance are not within their control and vary depending on government policies and risk assessments by insurance companies.

I think a 1 lakh price on what is within their control is fair but yeah a lot of people will have similar queries.

But aren't the price's mentioned only model wise without any emphasis on features. No 800 variant has either power steering or power windows. Taking the features offered in the top end Nano and its price even against the base 800 gives Nano the advantage doesn't it.

Hmmm... another way to look at it is the difference percentage. The M800 costs almost 21% more than the top end Nano.

For a car with just 100cc less than its nearest rival but which is more spacious, comfortable and modern with some extras (PS, PW-front) I believe there will be a good many people who may find that 21% lesser price to pay a good enough bet for the top end Nano.

But then as they say, the proof of the pudding... you know the rest. So lets see how the Nano does in the market. That is the ultimate test for its success.
