Another hatch? I'd much rather want the Seat Toledo,or something on those lines. With a healthy 140bhp engine,ie.

As per Autocar India, this car is here for the purpose of Engine testing for the upcoming VW Polo, its supposed to be carrying a 1.2L Turbo petrol.

You never know. VW might slap a VW badge on it and call it a VW. In China, they did it and called it a citi Polo or something like that. a previous Polo seden was merely a Seat rebadged

Yup, I read that too in the April issue of Autocar. VW is testing the 1.2 TSI (or is it called FSI?) petrol engine as a posible option with the VW Polo which is set to launch by year end or early next year. The 1.2 TSI motor is a gem of a motor with roughly 105 bhp, which could be detuned a bit for indian conditions. The Seat is indeed a test mule.

It runs hubcaps with the VW logo. Tyres are Apollo Accelere.

Striking car in flesh though, including the interiors.

its a test mule for VW polo. its a good way of confusing the press/media/competetion by testing a car from SEAT which is POLO under the skin!

The design direction of Seat is very different from VW.So i think it is going to difficult to slap on a VW badge on a seat and pass it as a Polo or something.

But then why not test that in the Fabia itself. I thought the Polo, Ibiza & Fabia are based on the same VW platform.

Strange things are known to happen in automobile industry around the world, so expect some strange things in india too!

when skoda can sell same car under two different names in india

when Mitsubishi can sell OLD pajero and NEW pajero (montero) side by side in india

OLD lancer is still sold along with CEDIA!

when Maruti 800 still sells along with with zen, alto and a-star in india (all are altos)

toyota managed to sell Quality+Service (Qualis) which is an outdated model)

so i expect many more things to happen here in india!

Fabia uses the PQ24 platform. The new Ibiza and Polo use the PQ25 platform. Source: Wikipedia.

I doubt if VW will create more confusion in India, by adding Seat to VW and Skoda and Audi in their list of brands!

Spotted her yesterday in Pune, sneaked these photos at a signal. Car looks smashing in person, especially in this shade of signal red. Note German plates.

Nice catch dud!

Looks like seat are testing their cars on indian roads before launching (perhaps not in india so soon).

Agar indian road pe gadi chal sakti hai toh woh duniya mein kahi bhi chal sakti hai!!!
(No wonder why they choose pune)
