If Skoda wants to take the came up a notch by threatening team-bhp and it's community, I suggest we organize a protest outside Skoda dealerships. I am sure we can organize atleast 100 people in each of the major metros. I think that should bring in some news Cameras.

I think we ought to remind Skoda Corporate about a person called Gandhiji who is sometimes also known as the Father of Our nation. He stood up to a corporate even more powerful than Skoda called the British Empire.

I cannot beleive that they wouldn't just not settle this case in the interest of their reputation. Skoda may have got here first but the competetion is bulding up and the Indian Consumers are become more aware that their marketing strategy of palming away old Checkoslovakian models as premium cars will last only so long..

I would like to go on record that if they initiate legal action against team-bhp and it's members, I will be the first to contribute to team-bhp's legal defense fund. Frankly I have nothing personal against Skoda, but I hate it when the big guy tries to intimidate.

Skoda Corporate. Trying to fight a single unhappy consumer is one thing. Waging war against thousands of educated Indian auto enthusiasts is not an advisable option.

I hope the case made by our fellow bhp-ian is based on hard cold facts rather than raw emotion !!! In my short life I have seen many a good case go down the drain for want of documented / pictorial hard evidence !!! Since this post is already 15 pages long,..I am unable to go thru all of them to see if there is enough evidence to ensure Skoda is buried or vise vera !
GTO I am sure you have spoken with the bhpian and ensured this has taken care off. Wish him luck and all of our support!

Really shocked to see what the guy has gone through, hope he gets justice. What's even more shocking is Skoda PR's efforts at 'threatening' T-BHP, lol.

We were thinking of going for the Skoda Fabia earlier, but then decided against it after hearing about the SASS and spare part prices. Hopefully we've dodged a bullet there and settled for a Swift (the delivery of which I'm unsure as well, but that's another story!)

A maruti or a hyundai or a tata will be on top of the list (which i really dont mind)

suggestion 1: tata nano (for obvious reasons)
suggestion 2: maruti 800<maybe edmunds 800> (for putting the nation on wheels)
suggestion 3: rudra's amby (for aesthetic purposes: she's a hottie!)
suggestion 4: <taps fingers on table and thinks> no no, we dont want a hyundai as the top photo, outright BOORING!

suggestion 5: car of the month (picked by mods + team bhpians every month)
I wouldn't mind seeing the Linea on top of the page, would look quite nice

Otherwise the Nano would be my pick.

Of the several posts here suggesting protests, dharnas, flooding them with e-mails etc. I quote only one as it is at the top of the thread right now.

My only question is : Why should we bother?

Skoda is doing an excellent job of killing itself.

The two things that weigh on my mind are:

1. Will it be quick? Something like they shoot themselves in the head and get it done and over with or, will they go the slow and painful way - by spilling their guts out?

2. Will I be able to use / sell my Skoda?

If the RS is to be removed, (I am not in favour of removing it, it was a great drive and there is no need for us to protest against Skoda - they are doing a fine job of killing themselves without our help). I suggest a vintage/classic up there - no fanboys, no critics, no A.S.S. issues etc. DKG, Karlosdeville, S.B. Jatti, TractionAvant, Wasif, Harit and other vintage car specialists should be able to help us. (The LaSalle which now belongs to DKG's uncle, springs to mind immediately - it has been in the family for 5 generations!) There is an ongoing thread - "Top ten collectible cars in India" maybe we should just put the winners up on the mast-head.

Cheers,

Look wat the recession does to people

Well now we can see the effects of the recession. Clearly skoda isnt making any money by selling their cars. What do you expect when there are 40000 people on tbhp spreading the word not to buy skoda cars. No one would want to put their hard earned money on a lemon with 4 wheels and a faulty motor attached to it during these bad economic times or any other time for that matter.
So skoda's brilliant marketing strategy, I can imagine how the "boss" would have inspired his troops with his little speech - "Fellow skoda employees, as of today skoda is not making money from selling cars. Its time for plan B! Our alternate source of income - lets sue 40000 tbhpians and run the company from the money we get from that!"
Well too bad both their marketing strategies look like theyre going to flop!
Also, whats the use of the public poll being sent to tbhp members. Everyone here wants the truth to be spread. lets send that poll to skoda employees and then we'll have the true results for that poll!
@GTO Your like the Mahendra Singh Dhoni of tbhp! We dont know what we would do with out you! And a suggestion - Why put any car up there for a logo? Maybe we should put up an Indian Flag up there(is it legal? next we may have some random politican telling us how they'll 'instigate' us for using the Indian flag on an internet forum that discusses cars). Its time we all stood up for better changes in the country.
All Hail Team-BHP!

I am happy that at last people started waking up! This thread would be warning BELL to other car makers as well.

I expected such thread 2 years back when I studied few car manufacturers in India. This thread is started in perfect time!! This would create very good awareness among public.

Along with Skoda there are few other car makers in India who have take it as granted attitude! directly or indirectly.

Trust me I studied bussiness strategy of many many companies in India and abroad during the time I started my business.

I heard from many people they enjoyed their Skoda vehicles only for 2 years, after that they had to face lot of issues.

Request to members: Lets choose cars after studying the product fully, at the end of the day its our hard earned money. Business will cheat us and they take away our money. result: we loose and in india everyone knows the law and timeline.

About selling Lemon vehicles and giving bad service: I just don't understand why companies fight with customer when they car sold is lemon or if service is given is bad. when my client and show tell me my mistakes I immediately compensate without any argument although I can easily wash my hands by giving excuses. The way I bend myself and compromise when I do mistakes I saw every single time I win big big works next day from that source. In business honest and truth plays better than talk/speculation/hype/excuse.

I am sure many corporates/people will learn lesson from this recession "differance between reality and speculation".

Ravi.

PS Sorry for any TYPO!

I have never spent so much time on a thread at a stretch. Just couldn't help it. Its such a shame to the company for having such a bad experience. Everytime I saw the Skoda add on TV I felt like its a company which would go to any extent to satisfy its customers.

I have always respected Skoda as a brand. Not anymore.

Cheers to TBHP. Proud to be a a part of this community.

EDIT:Hopefully when I log in tomorrow, I will not be seeing the same car on the header.

By making a veiled threat of a legal action against T-BHP and its members,
Skoda India has acted irresponsible.

Skoda in India is perceived as a luxury brand - customers who end up paying anywhere from Rs 8 Lakhs to Rs 25 Lakhs on a Skoda Car have every right to be treated responsibly.

Mr. Harish Kanchan has brought out his grieviances against Skoda India in a professional manner and hats-off to him for his endurance and patience in this long-drawn litigation.

By choosing to sue T-BHP and its members for 'publishing information (which , does not represent all of the facts) in the ongoing court case', Skoda India has done more harm to itself that it possibly could. It does not realize that it could end up getting a lot of negative publicity.

While I haven't dissuaded anyone from buying a skoda yet - I have begun passing this thread around - just to make sure people know what to expect when they purchase a Skoda.

I am with fellow T-BHPians in this.

Ms Skoda Corporate last visited the site at around mid-day today.

I wonder if they are following this.

I wonder if the staff that dropped them in this PR mess still have jobs?

Skoda... you may be thinking it will all blow over. You may be thinking that, maybe every member of Team-BHP will post here, and then what? It'll all die down.

Think on this: in the highly unlikely even that we've forgotten all about it in a week or three, Google will remember.

Don't you think it's time you tried to build bridges?

But if you do it like the last time you "tried to engage", you will get shouted down again. Best you ban your "marketing department" from doing anything except designing brochures, and get some real people to talk, not spin.

I'm wasting my breath here, I think. Prove me wrong!
