Mercedes-Benz India launches the “Special Edition E-class"

Mercedes-Benz India launches the “Special Edition E-Class” customized for Indian market.
  • Only 192 units of this exclusive E-Class will be produced by Mercedes-Benz India
  • Significant enhancements in style, design and trim to distinguish the Special Edition E-Class
  • Exclusive Bird's - eye Maple Trim, introduction of 17 inch alloy wheels and further enhancements of chrome highlights for interior and exterior adding to the rich appeal of the car.
Pune-Mercedes-Benz India today announced the launch of it's Special Edition E-Class tailored specifically for the Indian market. Created in colours of Carneol Red, Obsidian Black, Calcite White, Tenorite Grey, Iridium Silver and Cubanite Silver, the company will produce only 192 units of this special vehicle to maintain exclusivity.

“Mercedes-Benz E-Class is clearly the most sought-after luxury car and we have sold over 16,000 units of this car since its India launch in 1996. The Special Edition E-Class will be a collector's item: a luxurious, powerful and exclusive Mercedes-Benz with even more sporty and aggressive styling.” commented Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.

Apart from limited production, the 'Special Edition' will only be sported in a 3-liter diesel engine coupled with additional design, trim and style enrichments to emphasize the Mercedes-Benz product offerings.

Amongst the many features making its debut in the Special Edition, is the 17” 5-double-spoke light-alloy wheels highlighting the sporty stance of the car, the LED technology tail-lights, that not only accentuate the attractiveness of this vehicle, but also build-up on the safety aspects of the same. With the incorporation of the LED technology, the reaction time for the trailing vehicles is now 160 milliseconds faster as compared to regular lights thus escalating safety to newer heights.

Also making its debut, thereon contributing to the grandeur of the plush interiors is the fine detailing of the bird's eye maple wood trim that tastefully lingers on to the senses while seated in the interiors.

Preview of the further accompaniment in this collectors item include dynamic changes in the grille & headlamp unit, additional chrome highlights to add to the exterior appeal of the vehicle, new multi-function wood/leather steering wheel. The new instrument cluster design also features among the enhancements introduced with this exclusive edition.

Priced at Rs. 43.4 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi, the Special Edition E-Class will be retailed on demand through Mercedes-Benz Dealerships across the country.

Manufacturers and their tactics!

A well branded clearance sale for the old E class before the new one gets launched. Good work Mercedes Benz!

As the new E (which is technically very advanced than this) will be launched in 2010 in India, so the intelligent customers will stay away from this clearence sale at 43 lacs, unless a 20-25% discount is given.

What's this 192 bit about? The last batch of current E-Class production? Maybe not, ACI reported new E-Class coming only in 2010 here.

I personally would never buy the E, at 43L, it's better to wait for the new gen or look to other brands. Maybe it's just me but it seems wrong to pay that fat amount for an old car.

I love the dark interior shade on this model, but yeah it looks pretty much the same, and I'd rather NOT have those alloys. Seems like MBIL has 192 units of the W211 left to clear.

Jokes apart, nice deal.

192 units is too much for a limited edition E class.
Its just for clearance of their stock.

Nothing new here..this car is sold as "avant garde trim" here in U.K and I have got this one. I have already posted the picture of that in one of may post titled "trio of our mercs" here.
They are just trying to flog the cars they might be sitting on in India, before the sale of new E class begins sometime later this year.

Cheap sales tactics for the E by merc then. Maybe they should have offered a fatter discount then this to lure buyers.

Mercedes does a Maruti!...thank goodness they dint put garish chequered flag stickers on the side of the car.
Special editions are nice, but for them to be special you have to add some unique features not some tinkering around in the options list.

Gotta love all this PR rubbish, wot? Has someone from Ford India joined Mercedes India lately? This is a classic Ford India recipe.

Nope, not enough to take on the 5 series. Expect unlimited discounts on this limited edition! Irrespective, still a great sedan in the segment for the chauffeur-driven type.

Question to Mercedes : When are you going to release your 5 year maintenance packages? I don't know if you realised, but BMW is walking all over ya!
