My google results said the it was around 9.5 +- 0.15 .. for the 1.6 engine in the Palio GTX..

Actually I read somewhere that beyond 9.3, it's better to use 91 octane fuel .. so I was trying to find out this figure

Would the CR not be the same as in Palio GTX? For GTX, according to indiacar.com, the CR is 9.5+/-0.15 : 1. But they have not specified what the CR for Petra Petrol 1.6 is.

shuvc,

1) It hardly matter if it is 91-93 Octane, because the engine is tuned to accept regular 87 octane petrol. So irrespective of what anyone says, you really don't need higher octane petrol for other than piece of your mind :-) Rather use a detergent based additive.
2) The specs given by TypeO may not be correct for Petra. Petra has 16v DOHC engine and not 16v SOHC. Kurb weight is 1120 for Petra and not 1100. And FE in city should be 10+.

Even though I am a proud petra owner myself and I know Petra is as fuel efficient as any other car in the class, I find this claim going way overboard. 14 in city is real real tough unless the city is deserted and has expressway as its main road :-) Please confirm.

Naah dude. Not way off. Recently I got 12.96 so that is pretty close. No aircon and yeah, I chose the roads and the timing well.

Regarding the specs, that is the closest. Albea is the name for the Petra in Turkey and Eastern Europe so. But that you are saying may be correct. Or maybe there are two variants on the engine.

You got that in Mumbai "city"? Now, don't tell me that you were driving all the time on eastern expressway at 80kmph. If Petra starts dishing out 13-14 kmpl, why would one go to Santro/Wagon-R for mileage?

50% on EEH alright. And 70kmph. But I get into jams near Sion and Lower Parel so it kind of cancels out. But I have to confess this was one off and I used an extremely light foot. And yes I switched off the engine at stop lights. For the record my wife's M800 has never given more than 13kmpl in city ... More on my FE exploits after my second service which is coming up pretty soon.

Hi guys,
Have a a Siena Weekend. Have done 30,000 k's. Had just one problem - clutch hydraulic cylinder leaked.
Love the car, great suspension, plenty of space, acceptable mileage and great for long trips. Service at Hyderabad dealer is pretty decent.
So to those who want the Adventure Sport, I say - GO FOR IT!
John

Sounds good. Is this offer only on the 1.2 ELX ?
It would be better still if you could lay your hands on a 1.6 ELX.
Since you are considering Petra, do test drive the 1.6 before you decide ..

I have not driven 1.2, but I suspect that it will be underpowered for a sedan. Why dont you go for 1.6 ELX? I am sure you will get similar discounts. The price difference should not be more than 30-40K, whereas you get a much more powerful and fun to drive car.

As RX said, 1.2L will be definitely underpowered on this sedan. Shell out 20-30,000 more and you'll get a fine 1.6 ELX.
Read the first few messages on this thread for specs.

In my opinion, 1.2 Palio itself feels underpowered, with or without AC. I guess a few more horses would have done a world of good for this beast. Then Petra 1.2 will be even more underpowered in all probabilities. If you want to go for the Petra, then it should be 1.6.
