Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

Diesel for sure, as I love driving between cities and a petrol would burn my pocket down The Figo diesel would be the ideal city hatch for me, with its turbo-lag free engine and impressive fuel efficiency. Though I would miss the punch of the turbo when pushing the car on the highway. Handling would keep me confident and entertained though..

We own two hatches currently, i use an oct2010 wagon-r and an my brother sold his 2006 zxi for an oct2011 Beat Diesel. No complaints from either cars. Our running is 1000-1200kms monthly. Still i am looking for a good used swift diesel to replace my wagon r. So i guess the answer to the thread is a diesel hatch.

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

Own a Palio Stile Multijet

1. Manages real-world city FE of 20 without AC and 16 with AC. Gives 23 kpl without AC on highways.
2. Seats five in reasonable comfort and has more luggage space than many new generation hatchbacks.
3. Crawls without any throttle inputs in the first two gears thanks to Fiat's short gearing.
4. Flies past 1800 RPM, surprising some petrol sedans as well and can maintain practical triple digit cruising speeds.
5. Has an HPS with no equal in terms of feedback and steadiness.
6. Is reasonably reliable, though not a Toyota.

Don't think any petrol hatch would do (1), (3) and (4) and with the kind of fuel bills I get every month.

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

Finally got a diesel hatch. The Liva G(D).
Great car for city driving, which is primarily what this car does. Still want a tuner friendly petrol soon though.

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

My 2006 Zen VXi is now doing duty as the family runabout, and I am now planning to replace it with either a diesel hatch or the Indigo eCS. A petrol car just does not make any economic sense for me anymore. And I have the Verna SX CRDI for my daily dose of thrlls!

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

I have always loved Hatch Backs and both my previous & Current rides are Hatches

I own a Petrol Getz Prime 1.3 and I just Love my baby. I feel like it was just a clay when I bought it and I have tailored it to my liking.

Afterall, if I could get my wish granted, VW Scirocco will always be my First pick.

In my eyes, I have crafted my Getzy to look like one now. Only thing left for me now, is to make it Feel like one.

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

My Palio Stile SDX has done 62500 km in 3 years and 3 months. I keep driving it to my hometown Mangalore frequently, and thanks to bad stretches, I get 18 kmpl approx. It gave me 22.5 kmpl during my last Goa trip in September. That too with AC on for about half the time, to fight fog inside Karnataka and to fight humidity and heat along the coast. I did a full tank just before starting (not to the brim), and the tank was not yet 3/4th empty when I reached my fiancee's house in Ponda after driving 760 km!

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

A sweetly revving petrol engine for me any day. My yearly running is about 10k kms, so a diesel hatch with about 1.2 lakhs difference in price does not make sense for me. Besides, I am just not able to accept the lack of refinement and NVH levels of diesel engines, no matter how much they are described as refined. SO a petrol hatch for me anyday for pure driving pleasure. The K12 engine on the Swift with VVT and that sweet gearbox-steering-suspension combo would be perfect for me

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

Cocktail green Beat Petrol LS . My monthly running doesn't warrant a diesel.

Re: Your Hatch: Diesel or Petrol

Alto k 10 Vxi and M800 is it for me. I would be looking to exchange the 800 for a nano diesel next year if the nano is what it is purported to be.
