Team-BHP - The Indian Cool/Uncool cars list!

Let me start this thread by defining a cool car, as put by His Highness Clarkson.

A cool car needn't be practical/fast/good looking/VFM/comfortable/great handler/economical.

All it needs to do is to fit in, without trying too hard. It needs to be different from the pack. It needs to make you feel good about buying the car. But most of all, it needs to pull at your heart strings for reasons no sane person can justify!

An uncool car would be one that's trying too hard. Simple. Or one that is just plain boring.

So here are the four categories, with some samples from the international car scene, just to give you a feel of what it's all about.

Sub Zero : Ford GT, Land Rover Defender, Aston Martin DB9

Cool : Mazda RX-8, Ford Focus, Alfa GTV

Uncool : Hummer, Golf Diesel, BMW X5, Volvo V70

Seriously Uncool : Audi TT, BMW M3 CSL

OK. Here goes my list. Just for starters-

Sub Zero: Tata Nano, Fiat Palio, Endeavor, Ford Fusion, Gurkha, Reva

Cool : Opel Astra, Fiat Linea, Zen, Verna, Swift Petrol, Audi A4, Optra, Baleno, Altura, Indigo Marina, Passat, Touareg, Safari, Fiesta

Uncool:Swift Diesel (Hell, I own one), Elantra, Civic, Accord, Aveo, U-VA, Innova, Indica, Indigo

Seriously Uncool:Modded Cielos, Estilo(Unless maybe you're a girl), X6, X5, X3, CRV, Indigo CS, Corolla (the old one), Logan

As you can probably make out, there is no rhyme or reason to most of these. Just the way I think.

Let's hear out your lists, guys. Also throw in some completely ludicrous reasons to justify your decisions, if you can. :)

And please read the definitions once again before posting!!

To those scratching their heads over this question, the whole premise of this cool cars list is based on the question - "What would Christine Scott Thomas say if you turned up in that car to pick her up".

So in the Indian context, it would be modified accordingly.

i think you need to put up another category. So we are a bit different from top gear :D
lets say
5th category, Practical :- Nano,Alto,Zen, Xylo

to me sub zero:supra's,M3,SL55 Amg,LC200,Prado,H2(obviously),Porsche 997. Well any thing above 70 lacs tend to get into this category :D

Seriously Uncool:Most Hyundai's :D,Amby,poorly modded cars,Indica,Versa,zen estilo(in pink Yuk!!)

x6 is one of the most wicked looking Suv's out there.

You don't get the rules vinay. Looks matter not.

Sub Zero : Nano - it is going to put the nation on wheels all over again, Zen, OHC - when all the mods ditch theirs, Fiesta, Palio, 500...

Cool : Mondeo, Superb, Ambassador (it may be old, but nothing is so stately).

Uncool : Civic, vRS (when the mods ditch theirs, not much of an upgrade tho :D), any car with a ridiculous body kit...

Seriously Uncool : BMW Mx, the AMG cars, Accord (Bling city!), Audi A4 etc. Too much bling, trying too hard. Oh yes, any cars owned by the mods will be here too.

Is that ridiculous enough d3mon? :D

Here's my list in context to the Indian market -

Sub Zero: Merc S class, BMW 750li, Phantom

Cool: Audi A4, new Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Porsche 911, Range Rover, new Honda City, Audi Q7, Civic Hybrid, Touareg, Opel Astra, Swift Diesel, SRV (for its looks), new Audi A6, Audi R8, Fiat Adventure and Fiat 500

Uncool: Indica, Indigo, Marina, new Zen, Audi A8, Elantra, Tuscon, Volvo S80, Nissan Tiena, Octavia, Corolla, Innova, and Uno

Seriously Uncool: Maruti Van, 800, Versa, Tavera, Wagon R, Forestor and Pajero (Why are these guys still offering the age old version in India?)

Here is my list.

Sub Zero - Fiat 500,Tata Nano, Rolls Royce Drop Head Coupe, Rolls Royce Phantom.
Cool - Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe, Porsche 911, Chevrolet Spark, BMW M3, Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea, Mondeo
Uncool - Aveo, Audi A8, Innova, Mercedes S Class
Seriously Uncool - Hyundai Santro, Murcielago, Audi Q7, Maruti 800, Accent, Maruti Van
