Clearing the stocks means 2008 production or earlier 2009 production. 1-2 month old production seems more likely. Regardless of temporary upsurge, the long-term trend for Fiesta is down, and this price cut is one way of ramping up sales in the short-term. If you feel comfortable, buy it.

Great car, I never liked the looks though. It's the GM-Ford madness in the states that makes people think twice before buying the brand.

I can see takers at that price, maybe our other sedan makers need to learn from Ford who offer 1.6L engines at such prices.

It actually is a steal at that price, Sedan with 1.6 Engine and great handling skills.

The reason for this could be the old stocks of base petrol version of 2008 or early 2009 make luying in stock yards.

Wow. Thats quite a VFM. Didnt Ford give some special discount on Fiesta P few months back too? Fiesta sales have dipped inspite of the facelift. The new model launch is more than a year away.

Just spoke to the dealer, the car comes to 6,25,000 /- on road in navi mumbai with few more accessories which they were ready to give free. Its an Exi variant, so no alloys, no abs, no fogs. comes with driver seat adjustment and reading lamps in the rear seat and ZXi trim seat covers.

The quality of the image is so bad. The rear wheels are spinning and the front is stationary!!

At even 6, I guess this is a steal!

this is inline with the price correction done for the FIESTA in december when for a limited period a massive discount of nearly Rs100000 was given. ( just prior to the Linea launch )

once you do that, its really impossible to bring the price back to earlier levels and expect sales to happen.

this is the problem with FORD ( and GM too ) - imagine the state of mind of ppl who went out and bought the FIESTA in those earlier prices.

its a great car at the existing price - now even more attractive.

you can easily buy this and kit it up to look like the S at a price lesser than the S from the showroom !

You got a keen eye. Looks like some quick shoddy PS job. And, I agree for 6L it would be quite an interesting drivers car.

I think the attempt was to make it look like a rear tyre burnout, akin to RWD sportscars. But the odd fact is the Fiesta is FWD.
Shows the poor acumen the related marketing guys have when it comes to cars.

80 K drop from the list price is too good.
but normally you could push for a 30- 40 K corporate discount on EXi models which dont sell too well.

IF you want ZXi/SXi or Sport the discount would be more like 40 K inline with what you normally get.
I got a 50 K off deal in oct'08 for my Sport which ended up as 38k by nov due to price correction. When they dropped price in Dec for EXI/ZXi again Sport and S were not getting the same levels of discount. Production levels for EXi/ZXI is normally higher compared to SXI/Sport
That part is normal with most manufacturers.
Bimal dealership sales guy once mentioned that they get 1 Swift VDI/2 ZXis for every 20 VXIs they order from Maruti.

Now if reasonable # of ZXis(which have the acceptable kit level) are sold and EXIs pile up at the dealership this is what happens, good way to clear stock. Anyway Fiesta D outsells petrol 3:1 and this deal seems to be only on Fiesta Petrol. Ask for the Diesel (with Ikon -D with same engine not sure how Fiesta -D is doing either) and you will get a discount that is more of a namesake.

May be aftereffects of Linea's relative success on top of already sagging sales went further down compounding the overall downturn and American vehicle phobia with other two manufacturers in bankruptcy news on prompting Ford to resort to this yet again.
