As already mentioned by Gagan and details in the scoop , only one model for the Jazz. Could you post the link ? Media has confused us with prices from 5.5-7 lacs. Knowing Honda 5.5lacs ex showroom is surely not what we can expect from them.

There is no confusion. The report is very clear that the 5 lakh price tag is for the new small car being developed. See report below:

Quote:
Senior officials at Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) told TOI that a new R&D team will be in place from June whose main task would be to further indigenise and localise production of key components to keep the price of the new car at around Rs 4.5 lakh, much lower than the Jazz's expected Rs 7 lakh tag.

While everyone is busy discussing features and specifications, I thought it would be valuable to point out that in the UK, and many other countries, the Honda Jazz has emerged as a favorite vehicle among retired people. Some articles even go on to call the car a "Pensioners Chariot"!

well atleast the pensioner's chariot in UK has four variants with manual and auto options in each and the ability to add typical pensioner features like auto climate control, more than 2 airbags, et al.

Comparison of Jazz, i20 & Fabia

In the pic there is a comparison.

i20 seems to be the widest, longest & having maximum wheel base (room) car.

Skoda Fabia has a 3 Cylinder 12V Engine. The image above shows it as a 4 Cylinder engine. How can they get comparisons so grossly wrong?

I think they are comparing the petrol engines here. The petrol engine is a 4 cylinder unit whereas the diesel is a 3 cylinder unit (laura engine minus 1 cylinder)

Isn't 3 cylinder only for diesel?

Skoda India's site says 3 cylinder for both Petrol and Diesel.
?koda Auto - The new ?koda Fabia - Facts - the link.

Quote from their site:
"A three-cylinder 1.2 HTP engine is available with power output of 51 kW. The rapid acceleration and relaxed engine performance makes urban and inter-city travel effortless and gives a better fuel economy. The engine includes an on-board EOBD self-diagnostic device."
The e-Brochure on their site also mentions a 1.4 litre MPI Petrol engine (86 bhp@5000 rpm) for the Elegance variant. May be that is a 4-cylinder one.

The petrol 1.2 is a 3 cylinder motor.

premium hatchback model and the expected price of the same is above Rs. 5.5 lakh to 7 lakh. However, the R&D team at Honda is busy to indigenize and localize the car to bring down its cost. It expects to bring down the price to Rs. 4.5 lakh.

Honda R&D team of 25 members will be headed by a senior official from Japan and will also include people from purchase and manufacturing divisions. Honda is aiming at bigger market share in India and also aims to boost its sales figures by introducing a small car in the country.

4.5 lakhs is impossible, at least 5.5 lakhs is possible if Honda starts assembling the Jazz at the rajasthan plant. But i doubt they will be able to sell that many to warrant building a new plant and assembly line.

According to the economic times article, 4.5 lakhs is NOT for the jazz. Its for their yet to be launched small car.

keep the price of the new car at around Rs 4.5 lakh, much lower than the Jazz's expected Rs 7 lakh tag. The new small car is expected to be launched within three years.

The brochure is probably old. The local dealers here confirmed a few months ago that the 1.4 petrol was discontinued. That's when they launched the 1.2 petrol Elegance.

7 lacs ex-showroom for Jazz sounds ridiculous.
Could it be for the 1.5 petrol?
1.2 can then be expected for around 6 lacs.

Some auto mags have also quoted similar prices in their recent issues (e.g., Autobild says 6 lacs and ACI says 6-7 lacs)
