That is quite an ask by Honda, which is not surprising though. I am sure it will sell in decent numbers.

I sincerely hope this car does not become a success. It should teach Honda India a good management lesson.

+1 to that, it surely deserves the fate that the Fabia & i20 are having in india.

This pricing is insane.

Same thoughts here!

The premium brand image of Honda in India is being overused.

Sid ,
Any updates about auto-box , i mean after 2 months or 3 months or 4 months or something like that .

My guess is that it will sell in decent numbers , but overpriced.

If it would be of any consolation to you, it will be more than 8.5L in Bangalore!

It should be a hot hatch with full wheel covers, manual AC etc. I am sure the engine would be decent (producing 89 BHP)

I'll rather keep quiet instead of eating my words later - I truly wish and hope it doesn't sell. And, I hope everyone wanting to pick it will pick up a Punto MJD instead! But, I have been proved wrong with Bangalore people running with their bags full of cash to pick up ANHC (AT costs 10.82L OTR, and the S MT costs 9.8L OTR)

Honda will have their way till we stop buying overpriced cars!

@sharma_sanjeevi - I heard that Hyundai is surprised with the popularity of i20 in India despite being priced high! They are unable to meet the demands and they are ramping up production of i20! All this with the top end i20 selling at 7L OTR Bangy with a scorcher 1.2 Kappa engine!

don't call I 20 a flop.

Hyundai is not supplying more than 1,000-1200 units per month for our country and has actually exeeded sales expectations, and i feel it is not overpriced for the features and mechanicals it offers. which car OTR 6.3L will give you 6 airbags and whole lot of other small ingenious features?

the engine is not underpowered as it is written to be. An engine should not be judged from its quoted figures from paper but how well it is tuned to match the overall body profile and weight of the car.

underpowered it may be,where in our country's streets will you race the car?

i don't think its time of 0-100 kmph of 14.22 seconds makes it an underpowered car.

fabia is 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder, 69bhp. now take the call.

For this price, if the same car was offered the 1.5L engine of ANHC, the pricing would have been right. Like I had expected, if at all Honda launches Jazz with 1.5L engine, it will be priced on par with ANHC but the question is will they? If they do, Jazz is a more proportionate design and good alternative to ANHC sharing all the same mechanicals, better interiors and marginally less boot space. If ANHC has a market at its price, Jazz certainly will be a success too but problem for Honda is it will eat the market share of the City, be it 1.2L or 1.5L engined option.

In UK, The Honda Jazz S 1.2 VTEC sells at £9990, whereas the GP 1.3 MJD ACTIVE 75 BHP sells at £11,350.
The GP 1.3 MJD Eleganza 90 BHP sells at £13,650.

Both Honda and Fiat is going to give us a stripped down versions, but the price difference between GP MJD and Jazz is going to be reverse in India

By pricing Jazz around 7 lacs ex-showroom, Honda is moving from an overpricing policy to obscenely overpricing policy. This is going to be detrimental to Honda-India in a long term perspective.
