In that case the engine will be sold as an accessory at an additional price of 3,00,000 INR.

Classic Honda strategy of building perception which seems to be working now. So now even 7-7.5 Lacs will not be perceived as overpriced?

Guys - its a hatchback without alloy, without Climate Control, without Fog lamps, without USB port. Think about it. Add fabulous reliability, OK service, very good resale & think how much max you yourself would like to pay at the most (not a single rupee more), therein lies the answer

Just one problem. You can add all of those things (well, except for CC I guess). You absolutely cannot add reliability or resale. What would you like more? The car to work for a lakh+ kilometers without letting you down or climate control?

As someone who lived through PAL ownership for five gruesome years, I'll pay a King's ransom for reliability.

Immortalz agreed about the reliability part but isn't hyundai equally good? I mean the i20 will be substantially cheaper than the Jazz with better features and equally good reliability.

The car has been launched in three variants - the Basic Jazz carries a price tag of Rs 6.98 lakh. The Jazz Mode variant is the family utility version with body side mouldings, corner protectors to prevent parking scratches, mud flaps and funky lit-up garnishes on the side step and will retain for Rs 7.28 lakh. The top-end Jazz Active is the sporty variant of the hatch with sport pedals, body coloured front grille, fog lamps and a smart spoiler at the top of the tailgate. This variant has been priced at Rs 7.33 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi

I am happy with this pricing. Wasn't expecting a shocker from Honda. Fiat, over to you! Bowl us over with great pricing.

Thank you Honda you just lost 1 customer. However, I know by the time I post this, you would have started collecting cheques from prospective buyers and must be walking happily towards the bank.

Goodbye Fabia.

Edit: Whats the difference between Jazz Mode and Active? Nippon Central locking (key less)?

Ok!!!!!!!!! So Alloys etc. with variants, just few cosmetic touch ups. I guess that will take Jazz Active well above 8L OTR in Pune. Would love to see it in flesh or rather in metal, but price seems to be a big let-down for me.

Thanks csnanjappa. So end to all speculations and the base version will cost around 8L OTR Bangalore. Steep price indeed.

I am interested in seeing how Honda positions it in advertising and how the markets receives it.

Sure, If you've experienced that gruesome PAL ownership & also expereinced Honda's reliability, it absolutelyunderstandable that you feel like what you mentioned.

As for me, have not expreienced PAL ownership for 5 years, so can't say. But hey, what I experienced is Ford ownership for 6 years. When I purchased it, I was warned about the pathetic after-sales service, spares pricing, gruesome ownership experience etc. You know what - after 6 years, after clocking 90,000 kms, that good ol' Ford Ikon was still cruising rock-solid. No parts changed, not even any minute esthetic part, absolutely fantastic service received. So, should I equate Ford reliability with Honda? And for me or any individual, a manufacturer reliability means simply reliability of a piece he uses/ used. Period.
Similarly, like me, there would be lacs of car users of other brand cars who've had fantastic 5 years ownership experience of other brand cars. So?

All those who performed scoops on JAZZ thanks a lot.

The price estimates were bang on target and Jazz indeed will cost 7.5 L to 8 L OTR.
Its over to FIAT now and am sure the price estimates there too will be correct and it will cost just a small notch above Swift D.

Anyways, whats the cost of ANHC E MT OTR? Not much diff b/w Jazz Activa and ANHC E MT for sure.
India has changed and developed, we have a 1200 cc hatchback at 8 L OTR .
