The pricing is to much for a 2 box car, I know it has a honda tag and quality with it....still in the end its a 2 box car. There are 3 box cars for the same price...

India has changed and developed, we have a 1200 cc hatchback at 8 L OTR .
Just another info from my side-
talked to this chap at the Dlrship about Jazz, so the conversation went on to City Pricing.

he said that - sir, this month we are not getting any City lowest variant bcoz we have been informed that it is out of production - probably to compensate Jazz (i dunno how true that is) - also, the 1.5 E may / may not exist in future so that there is a big gap.
Currently, all City variants are available off the shelf except for 1.5E which has waiting (how much was not answered)

i dont know hw true that is - but made sense 2 me.

Wonder at 8L OTR, if this one too will meet the fate of Ford Fusion.

The price would be justifiable atleast if they launched it with the 1.5l engine. Honda is not even passing the saving on excise benefits.

Quite possible. Once Civic is relaunched at 12+ category, they will bring in the V-Variant of City in the 9+ category and fill the gap, with the alloys and fogs thrown in to justify the price

Honda is having a field day with City in the absence of any good competition. Hope Fiat improves its A.S.S and quality of part of Linea to provide some competition to Honda.

Sir, my comments were sarcastically targetted at Honda!

[quote=amtak;1340591]I am happy with this pricing. Wasn't expecting a shocker from Honda. Fiat, over to you! Bowl us over with great pricing.

Thank you Honda you just lost 1 customer. quote]

Edit: Mumbai ex showroom price for the base model Jazz is 743,000. The top end model will retail for 778,000 ex showroom. Roughly 8.5 Lakhs OTR for a Hatch? Just because its a Honda?

There is a first drive report on Zigwheels..

"There are two ways to get hold of any market. One is to compete with existing products, fight over volumes and eke out breathing space for a new product, but leaders through automotive history have seldom taken this approach of beating others at their own game."

The steep pricing of Jazz means ...

1. Jazz will not be a 'hit'. (you can't fool Indians all the time!)
2. Jazz will eat into ANHC pie and not into the 'hatch' pie of GP/i20/Ritz/Swift.
3. ANHC will start taking a hit with the lowest variant removed.
4. Linea will start gaining ground
5. Fiat will be back

The Ex Showroom price for Pune -

Jazz Mode : Rs. 30,000 additional over Jazz
Jazz Active : Rs. 35,000 additional over Jazz
Jazz : Rs. 724,000

So that makes Jazz Active around 7.59 Ex Showroom in Pune. Add 7% RTO, and insurance the price would be as much as NHC GXI. Close to 8.3L OTR in Pune. As far as I am concerned, it is not at all justified.

BTW, it's already obvious that Jazz Mode will hardly sell. There's just 5K difference between the Mode & Active and one is going to shell out 8L+ for Jazz, why hold back for just 5k?

Jazz = 7,43,000 ex-showroom Mumbai
Jazz Mode - Jazz + 30000
Jazz Active = Jazz + 35000

Almost nudging 9L on road for a hatch with a 1.2 LTR engine - did some one say Skoda / Ford get the pricing all wrong ?

ex-Mumbai prices are the steepest:

Jazz basic
Rs.7,43,000/-
Jazz Mode
Rs.7,73,000/-
Jazz Active
Rs.7,78,000/-

Those prices are more than that of the Linea! One can get an Emotion+ at the price of Jazz basic!
I hope at least the Active variant gets goodies like ACC, alloys, fogs etc.!

That's the target also. Honda is trying to create a new segment or upgrade the premium segment here.. Even now there are quite a few 3 box cars you get at 5-6 lakhs (Indigo, Ikon, Accent, Logan), but a whole lot of hatches that sell at higher prices, which sell too!

Chennai Prices

Jazz Mode : Rs. 748,000

Jazz Active : Rs. 753,000

Jazz : Rs. 718,000

OTR of 8.1 to 8.5 ish across variants.. steep! Let's see if they achieve the desired targets..
