Improve in internal security. Police should register the FIR and behave nicely.

It should be easier for physically challenged car enthusiasts like me to procure license, which seems almost impossible now.

My Wishlist!

1) Better Roads! Simply the most important requirement
2) Road Tax uniformity, It should not be allowed for people to drive cars any where in India without restrictions.
3) Higher Speed limits. Speed limits should be according to roads. Also strict implementation of the same.
4) Better Public transport.
5) Allowing modifications to be done to a car legally till the time it is safe.

In UPA-II emphasis will be on performance since the groundwork has to be laid for "baba" in 2014: which explains why the underperforming ministries have been taken back. With Kamal Nath, road projects will see a much better progress, so that is agiven,

However what i would like to see is a reduction in import duties and rationalisation of the import procedures for "foreign" automobiles and replacing the current tarrif based protection for domestic industry with an alternative system based on investment offsets, where the company seeking to export automobiles to India would invest in domestic spares/components plants to an extent of 30-40% in return for elimination of import duty. This used to be one of the most innovative plans hidden away in the Congress Party manifestoes. That needs to be dusted off and bought back out in the front.

It will not only provide additional jobs and boost manufacturing but also bring in added competition to domestic market. Ofcourse another advantage would be that it would make that Harley Davidson more affordable to aam-admi like myself!

1. Rapid Implementation of the NHAI projects. Development of limited access highways on the basic GQ as a start.
2. Easy transfer of vehicle across country. The vehicles should be able to move with no change in registration numbers.
3. Rationalization of fuel prices. Remove subsidies on Kerosene and LPG (if necessary issue food stamps to the BPL people). Fuel pricing on calorific value with no differential taxation.
4. Clampdown on Drunken Drivers.

Huh? In what way si the difficulties? Right now, a reading of the rules means that a large number of handicapped persons can obtain a license for what the rules call the "invalid" carriage. Unless there is a demand for a bribe, (which is a diferent issue altogether), i do not know of any significant obstructions in way of a person wanting to drive.

That is of course, subject to medical certification.

I suppose you may need another thread to substantiate that statement.

Edit:- I am sure most of us would want to know the process (and difficulties) involved in the licensing process.

Hi Moderators, Administrators, GTO

Here is a very long list of wish lists from the forum members regarding what they expect from the new government. Is it possible to get a article published in the leading Print Media focusing on Automotive and Transport Industry enlisting the top 10 wishlists (common to all members). This might generate some much needed common understnading on the issues faced and push to these reforms.

This will also provide additional publicity to T-BHP forum.

PS: I do not know whether this forum actively publicises the initiatives etc. if forum is against such publicity/initiatives, please excuse me.

1. Lower the import duty on CBUs from 115% to around 30-40%.
2. Also, lower the import duty on import of specific parts.

that would translate to a 5-6 lac Civic.
a 18 lac C-class / 3 series.

3. Reduce duties on 2nd hand vehicle imports (incl. 2-wheelers)
I want a 4-5 lac superbike - plsss

4. good roads and infrastructure.

5. Special (small) circuits to test ones skills (grrrr)

6. and ya - make the license tests stringent and levy heavier fines on violators (also keeping in check - NO CORRUPTION) - want a hassle free ride from office to home.

more than that.... hmmmm - 0 income tax for lesser beings (lol)

Can someone compile a list of the best suggestions. I will try and forward it the right person in the Govt. Even if 25% of the suggestions are implemented, it will be a big development.
