Another thing one will miss is the amazing 7 speed DSG in the 1.8 TSI (same as Superb).

Also note the fuel economy on the DSG is better than the manual 1.8 TSI in the UK driving cycle (Source: Skoda UK).

wow the petrol is a really fuel efficient one + the top speed of about 220-230!! Im having second thoughts about skoda now
any idea if the touch screen is standard on all models?
and yes The japs will face stiff competition.

[COLOR=#000000]After reading the details of the new Laura, I almost regretted having bought Altis, but only for a moment. After having read many horror stories of poor Skoda customers, I atleast dont have any painful ownership experience from Toyota.

Skoda does have some real good products, but they will not succeed till they improve their horrible A.S.S. issues.

And the brand which will suffer most due to Laura and Superb will be Honda. Petrol Laura will trounce Civic and Superb will take care of Accord. Perhaps this will force Honda to come down from their high horse and start giving a better deal to Indian customers.

Toyota may not be so badly hit becuase as it is Camry does not sell much and Altis is bought mainly for its comfortable ride and hassle free ownership experiecne.

The larger figures are MPG and the ones in the parenthesis is liters/100 km.

I'm a little confused, is it a 7 speed DSG 'box or a 6 speed? The Skoda site says it's a 6 speed.

Diesel is 6speed DSG box and 5 speed manual. Petrol is only 6 speed manual.

They haven't launched the 7 speed DSG in petrol probably to keep costs down.

First the superb, now the laura. I'm hoping Honda's sales suffer so they start using some common sense when pricing their models.

Now lets go see what all features we get in the base model, at 14.5 I guess it is going to do the most numbers

So the brochure is up on the website. I'm pretty impressed with the standard spec on the Ambiente. ASR and Traction control are standard. The major things missing are leather, only 2 airbags (same as Elegance), ESP and the touchscreen audio player.
Imo, the elegance trim doesn't make much sense unless you really want factory fitted leather and the 16" wheels. No electric seats, ESP or touchscreen audio in the elegance.

No, you're thinking about ESP, which as mentioned, is missing in the Elegance version

I'm not digging the looks of the new laura... IMO, the old laura looked better. Maybe my opinion will change when I see it in flesh.

cheers

Not at all the new headlights gives the car a very elegant look;the rear is also beautiful from the previous one!
