Spoke to a couple of Chevy dealers in Pune. They mentioned that Chevy will start shipping the Spark with beige interiors (dashboard and fabric) from next week. As per them the car will have no other change.

Price increase will be Rs. 2,000 and the discount (at least initially) will be reduced by Rs. 5,000 thus making it a total increase of Rs. 7,000. I think beige will suit the car but am not sure if people will want to pay an additional Rs. 7,000 for that!

Chevy is also going to do Beige interiors on the U-VA. Not sure about the price change though. The dealer told me this a couple of months ago.

I am not too fond of Beige interiors but it may make those boring interiors look nice on the U-VA

A very wrong decision on GM's part. My Verna has beige interiors. The dust shows up so easily, and everything starts looking soiled. Not only do I use transparent carpets on top of the beige carpeting, I've also had to seek professional interior cleaning 3 times in order to remove the grime.

The Spark is a budget hatch. It will be bought in much larger numbers, and not all owners will so meticulous in keeping their car clean. Very soon they will advise relatives not to buy a Spark as the car looks very "ganda", without themselves realizing why!

And anyway, was anyone complaining about the current Grey/Black combo?

Even the Estilo has beige interiors. I know Indian roads become way too dirty but a thing to notice is how clean do you keep your car? If the clearer wipes the interiors with a dirty cloth, it'll get dirtier faster than if its not touched at all. Plus, I haven't heard any Estilo owner complaining about the interiors being beige.

The car would look more upmarket and fresh.

beige interiors are set as an attraction in cars these days. But they tend to get soiled easily and the dash starts looking old.

Beige interiors are not always a good option especially in dusty cities. Another problem is Cheap plastic quality will be exhibited more if it is coloured in beige.

+1, black dashboards are the ones for India. Also once the novelty factor fades Beige interiors are a pain to maintain and also look a bit out of place.

I guess this is done just to give the car a mid-life refresh without incurring any costs! Also beige seems to be the flavour in India currently :)

Yes, I agree with CarsPG. Beige is the flavor of the season. Or should I say, the seasons gone by and the seasons to come?:D

I somehow dislike Spark's central console placement. So beige or black, I hate it all the same! :)

While I do like beige since I've been seeing grey/black for so many year now, I feel that in 1 - 2 years from now people will get bored of beige and grey/black will become the flavour again!

Isn't that already happening now? Look at the interiors of the Ritz! Blue:Frustrati

copying from i10!

Beige interior is one of the important reason for success of slightly overpriced i10.

But yes, they do catch dirt more than typical Grey interiors.

Frequently spending on their cleaning is annoying for the price sensitive small car owners.

With the situation GM is currently in I don't beige or grey will really matter! Rs. 60,000 - Rs. 70,000 discount on a car under Rs. 4,00,000 is huge!
