I really doubt the gp would be short on space. Compared to the palio, the wheelbase is much longer, while the boot space is identical. That additional wheelbase would surely have gone into the passeger compartment. And the Palio itself is more spacious than the swift. Plus the gp is much wider.
Also today's Hindustan Times carries a piece on Tata-FIAT strategy and says that gp would be priced above the vista but lower than the Fabia.

The Vista is an awesome car - but unfortunately I'm looking for a personal car, and so airbags are a must.

@Vipul: The Linea has a wheelbase of 2603mm, but its not as spacious as the ANHC or even Verna, which have much shorter wheelbases.
I think wheelbase doesn't really tell much about interior space utilization.

The main issue with wheelbase is that we don't get to know what fraction of that wheelbase lands up as the dash area or the boot (look at GP pics closely - longer wheelbase, but not all of it is being used for cabin space!)

Correction. The Linea is more spacious than ANHC & Verna. It has better legroom and shoulder room.

Anyway, Linea has D-segment dimensions but interior space is less than D-segment cars like corolla/civic. This is due to the huge dash board which eats up into the wheelbase like you said.
You might see a similar effect in GP too, as it looks same like Linea inside.

Fiat Bravo will never be launched in India due to high cost of import, confirmed by Fiat CEO.

Somehow this is very hard to believe. Punto wheelbase is considerably bigger than the Palio, I cant see how its less spacious than a Palio.
Even I drive a Palio but these sort of comparisons can only be made side by side and should be quantitatively and not how I or him or her felt inside.

GP is certainly more spacious than Swift, but lesser compared to Palio.

check these numbers:

Front Leg room, Punto=1075, Palio=830
Front headroom, Punto=990, Palio=960
Rear knee room, Punto=710, Palio=630
Rear head room, Punto=695, Palio=840

Still searching for the widths. But going by the numbers, Punto is definitely bigger than Palio.

What's stopping them from manufacturing the Bravo here? Fiat have embarked on a heavy localisation spree for their cars and the Bravo could be localised too. Also, Honda has introduced a Rs.8.5 Lakh hatch in India so the ground work has been done by someone else. It will be easier to accept a 9 lakh rupee Bravo thanks to it's bigger size and 1.6L MJD engine as compared to the Jazz.

I guess Tata and Fiat have agreed not to sell competitive cars in all the segments. he Bravo will not come to India - read it in a newspaper today.

great to see some really important numbers
my concern was the rear knee room and i m happy to see that its better than the palio (i was infact happy with the palio itself but this is even better).
can you also please put down the source from where you got this info
cheers!
