Yuvraj is the brand ambassador for the Punto. Now that is something to talk about. it really shows fiat is really taking hte competition seriously and in a very aggressive way.

And the Ad in the TOI was dazing, i could not stop staring at the Ad for sometime.

I got an email from fiat "Gear up for a Bold New Drive !" about the punto and test drive week.

Hopefully i get a TD today as promised by the Concorde motors, diary circle, bangalore.

About Blue&Me - I am not sure if a USB connector comes only along-with it, or can I connect a USB device without Blue&Me?

Other benefits of Blue&Me - voice activated phone control coupled with your audio, integrated steering audio controls etc are interesting and useful. But is a 50K difference between EP and EP+ justified just for this?
You forgot Alloy Wheels! Only EP+ comes with Alloy Wheels in Punto.

Yuvraj brings back haunting memories of Tendulkar endorsing Palio.

Hope Mr. Singh is luckier otherwise we all know which direction the Punto is going.

By the way - the Punto looks a w e s o m e.

One more thing - the Punto E+ doesn't have a usb port (at least not mentioned in the brochure). Does anyone know if its possible to just plug a USB wire in on the audio system? Because the system does have the functionality. Knowing Blaupunkt am sure this wire will cost a bomb.

Even the Linea E does not have a USB port. Isn't that weird?

You can't have the best of both worlds, do you? If FIAT has to price the Punto close to the Swift, then definitely, they have to compromise a bit on quality.

When Palio was launched, everybody compared it with the Santros and Wagon Rs. Nobody cared to listen that Palio is a bigger, heavier, safer car, and the quality is notches higher. The public found the Santros and Wagon Rs cheaper by a few grands, and Palio sales suffered.

This time, FIAT is playing it safe, and hence the compromises in quality and the lower prices. Believe me, even with this amount of cost-cutting, the Punto is still great VFM.

I wonder how they are able to price it so low. Be ready for a price hike very soon. Maybe as sooner as 3 months. I am sure FIAT will be able to sell it for this price for long.

Slightly off-topic, but your newspaper must be among the lot that gets printed in the first batch, and they get edited upon priority i guess. That's what i got to know when my TOI didn't carry much news about the 26/11 attacks back then, while the one in our office front-desk had it all over the first page.

EDIT: +1 to VinZ's comment .

It does have USB port, it's in the glove box. I have seen it myself.

BTW, yesterday I had a proper look at GP here. Though test drive was not possible, I was allowed to sit inside adn feel the car. The interiors of E+ do look very nice, no complaints here. In fact, dare I say - they look classier than Linea, much better than any other car in this class - perhaps second only to Jazz. Few eyesores are there though - the driver doesn't have google holder and no vanity mirror for driver. The vanity mirror for co-driver doesn't have lights like Linea. The speed is black which looks a bit simple and mediocre as compared to Linea. The alloys are bland and boring though! :(

The rear seat space though is a bit less, and boot is not too huge either. I guess the huge hood and dashbord take away most of the space. The ack of rear seat space coould be a deal-breaker for many people.

I am interested but going to watch this car for next couple of months before I take plunge. Pune OTR prices are not yet declared and official Pune launch seems to be on 20th June.

Yes, the official dealer level launch is on 20th. Rear leg space is definitely compromised. During my discussion with Fiat guys, it's evident that the target is Swift customers which is the younger generation who are looking to buy a driver's car. For the 'family type' customers they have the Palio and Vista which are more spacious and sedate.

Guys, "Punto" Morning!

Got a call from A-One Motors. TD fixed for next Saturday. The guy who called me assured that he will explain how the rear leg room differ from competition (I raised the concern of rear leg room)

Do any one know if Punto has the same 'My car' future of Linea. It's nowhere mentioned in the brochure or website. Distance to empty, Current millage, etc, etc.

Oh! that's a real blow. No 'My Car' in E+

Cheers!

Why there is a difference in the contents of the Mumbai Edition itself ?

Although, I haven't yet seen the Punto but here is my take (theoretical) on rear legroom.

As numbers suggest that front legroom is more than a Palio, do one really need to push the front seat to the max? I push my seat to the max in a Palio as I am 5'10".

Can confirm this once I see the car.
