The new Grand Vitara 2.4 comes reloaded with a 2.4 litre VVT (Variable Valve Timing) engine that delivers a maximum power of 163.5 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a torque of 225 NM @ 4000 rpm. The VVT engine on the new Grand Vitara 2.4 delivers a balanced mix of power and efficiency.
The Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV range has always been loved by the customers for its style and handling as well as its off-road capabilities. The new Grand Vitara 2.4 answers the customer’s need for more power.
An All-time, 4-mode, 4-Wheel Drive (4WD) continues to ensure effective control across terrains. Disc brakes in the rear wheels, that ensure superior braking, provide additional safety dimension to the Grand Vitara 2.4.
The new Grand Vitara 2.4 is packed with many new features that add style and a bold look. The interior display in the car has been enhanced with a new Multi Information Display (MID) providing easy to read and accurate vehicle information like Cruising range, Average speed and instantaneous fuel consumption, besides “low-fuel” warning. All these add up to enhanced user convenience and driving comfort.

The Grand Vitara brand of Suzuki has sold over 2.5 million units worldwide winning over 32 reputed awards across 16 countries. Leading accolades for Grand Vitara include 6 awards in USA, 4 in Germany, 5 in Russia and 3 in Australia.
The new Grand Vitara 2.4 comes in two variants: 5-speed Manual Transmission (5 front + 1 reverse) and 4-speed Automatic Transmission (4 front + 1 reverse).

they have priced the new grand vitara quite competitively. seems like good value for money.
1.9 DDiS diesel could have been a great thing, maybe it can come later.
Any info on this GTO?

Im surprised why Maruti is not launching the Diesel version of Vitara when petrol prices have just shot up..not to say Diesel has also gone up.
A diesel version is a must.

From the limited information I have, I think that Suzuki is having license to produce only the 1248cc motor and not any other motor from Fiat MJD stable. Fiat demanded a huge amount of money from Suzuki ( pretty obvious ) as they were themselves in financial crunch. We know what maruti has achieved using that motor.

But Suzuki is not licensed to produce 1.6 or 1.9 from Fiat. They are obtaining the units from Fiat in Europe, so this again can increase cost. Hence its not viable for Suzuki to bring in GV Diesel. If they had license to produce the 1.9, GV would have been cheaper and killer for competiton.

However, there is rumor that SX4 1.9 is coming. Now if Suzuki wants to compete properly, they will be making those 1.9 units in India. If this happens, GV would be made available with that diesel motor in India.
This is mere speculation.

Maruti Suzuki launched the new advanced variant of its SUV Grand Vitara in India. The new model is priced in the range of Rs. 16.67 lakh to Rs. 17.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model comes with 2.4L petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission. The new model has 2.4L VVT petrol engine which stands for Variable Valve Timing and delivers a max power of 163.5 bhp at 6000 rpm and a torque of 225 NM at 4000 rpm. According the company, the new Vitara that stood for style, safety and off-capabilities will now be more fuel efficient and more powerful than its earlier versions.
"Highly popular the world over, the Grand Vitara is one of the global strategic models in Suzuki Range. For all those customers, who are increasingly looking at SUVs, the Grand Vitara 2.4 offers more power and the best in class 4X4 drive at a highly competitive price," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said in a statement.

Why is it that Suzuki cant source diesels from GM or Opel? They can put diesels in SX4, GV and Gypsy easily if they want.
GM could also help themselves with some money.

But where are the ads & the marketing campaign?? The last time the GV was launched, it failed miserably on the marketing front. Hope Maruti has better sense this time. I havent heard or read much about the GV2.4 in the past two days on the conventional media.

Where? I still get Coming Soon as I click on the "visit website" button in Our Cars in India | Maruti Suzuki Ltd Cars. The prices have been updated, but the product page is not. Even after one full working weekday after the launch.
